We had already presented the new online software suite of Aviary (click here and there to read the previous articles) and until now only Phoenix, an image editor and photo retouching, Peacock, a visual laboratory for creating pattern, textures... through many generators, and Toucan, a color palettes, were available free in beta version.
Of course, there were also Raven, a vector editor, and Talon, but for using them we should subscribe to the paid version.
Well, now, know that you can test free Raven because since few days Aviary unveiled Raven in beta version.
This vector editor, similar to Illustrator (attention, don't expect to find the same features as Illustrator) is the first and only tool of its kind to be available online.
You can import files in .SVG format from your PC or an url and you can export them, but you can also export your creations in png, jpg, gif or tiff format. However, if you want to save your work in progress, you must have an Aviary account.

Notice that Aviary changed their rate card. Now, you have :
- a free basic plan which allows you to use applications (Phoenix, Peacock, Toucan and Raven) in order to learn the tools

nope amiga has a vector program much better then illustrator.Plu it has been avaible online on aminet for over a decade.besides why does adobe have to be assumed as its the best as its cleary not and way over priced-really look/think outside of box

1) Is this Vector program available to USE while online? Or just a download?
2) And Adobe isn't assumed to be the best, it is simply the most well known. Though to be honest Adobe is one of the best, if not the best. Perhaps it's overpriced for you and me, but it's aimed at professionals.
3) Whether or not this other vector program you talk about is much better than Illustrator is purely an opinion, not fact, and so is your opinion of Adobe not being the best and being overpriced.
