Our favorite software requires most of the time to be installed to function. In the world of freeware, developers try to create portable versions, which need no installation, just decompression.
After word processing softwares and web browsers, it is now TheGimp's turn to pass in a new portable version (and updated at the same time!) (2.2.11)
No more gtk, installer, nor patch: Only one file of 25 Mo to download, which makes it a powerful portable tool on your usb key!
It doesn't matter if you want to use it in French or English, nothing easier: you just have to launch the corresponding .bat file.
