Recently
Rainmeter, the famous application which allows you to customize your desktop and to display system statistics on it, statistics like a hard drive's free space or your processor's activity... but also your e-mails, your RSS feeds, weather, etc.
leapt forward and is now available in version 2.0!
Indeed to commemorate the second anniversary of Rainmeter's "rebirth,"
the Rainmeter's team has decided to surprise their users with the big jump to 2.0.
So what's new in Rainmeter 2.0 ?
Rainmeter is now just one integrated installer package. The new unified installer combines 32-bit, 64-bit and portable installations and it detects the Windows version of the PC.
Installer is lighter by removing the default skins suite from Rainmeter. They are added after you install Rainmeter from a download page.
Rainmeter can now recognize and install downloaded skins automatically in just a few clicks. This also gave the skin developers options to release skin updates directly without having to wait for a Rainmeter updater.
Of course a new set of default skins, called Illustro, has been added in order to help new users learn the basics.
Skins now support text input which means it is now possible to search, tweet or do other text input related tasks.
New tools for skin developers have been added.
etc. (for more click
