Recently
the KDE team has released KDE Software Compilation 4.4.
So, KDE 4.4, code name Caikaku, is now available from
KDE official website. The project has also decked out the KDE Website with a fresh new design.
This new version, based on version 4.6 of the Qt library, brings some improvements, bugs fixes and introduces new technologies:

Nepomuk, the semantic search framework which helps the user in locating and organizing his data, has been improved.
It is more stable and a timeline appears to show recently used files organized chronologically.

KAuth, a new authentication framework, is introduced.It provides secure authentication and related user interface elements to developers who want to run tasks with elevated privileges.
