A news to inform you that the website VideoLAN has published the version 1.0.0 of the open-source multimedia framework and player VLC media player. : )


So, after several Release Candidate, VLC media player 1.0.0 is finally available for download for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux.

This new version brings some new features, a better stability and mostly bugs fixes:

- Independant of systems codecs to support most video types
- Live recording
- Instant pausing and Frame-by-Frame support
- Finer speed controls
- New HD codecs (AES3, Dolby Digital Plus, TrueHD, Blu-Ray Linear PCM, Real Video 3.0 and 4.0, ...)
- New formats (Raw Dirac, M2TS, ...) and major improvements in many formats...

So it took them what, 8.5 years to get to a full release? :o Even so, it's still been the best video player for ages! : yes:

VLC is a nice player. : ) Going to update my two installations right away.



Edit: Running the updater within VLC doesn't seem to give any new versions yet.

True. VLC plays everything, perfect. I love it. Glad to see 1.0 is finally here. 0.x.x were fine, though : )

VLC is a good player but I think I'll stick to the KMPlayer which I think is better thank VLC in GUI as well as in functionality.

How come? I've never had any sort of lag with VLC (except if the video is crappy) :S
