The project isn't new, it exists since 2006... A few months ago, a demo appeared on the web, and some had the opportunity to try the beta version... More advanced than some applications already available and based on the same concept, such as Real Desktop, BumpTop was recently launched !

Well, now you can download this application that allows you to transform entirely your desktop into a 3D graphical user interface.

The idea : be more productive with a simple and intuitive 3D desktop that we can organize like a real desk. So, with your mouse, your keyboard, your stylus or your fingers (if you have a touchscreen computer), BumpTop allows you to :

- bump and toss weighted objects across the desktop
- organize them into folders or piles
- pin up your photos or other documents on the walls
- increase or decrease the size of a photo or your icons
- put shortcuts where you want them
- manipulate documents by simple drag and drop
- stick post-its
- apply and share many themes
- etc. (for more, click here)

Look, here a short video showing BumpTop :

You can also watch an other video here.

For the moment, BumpTop is available only for Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 (a version to support multitouch functions of Windows 7 is under development), it requires minimum 1GB system memory. There are two versions : a free and limited version and a paying version (29$). ;)

If you want to create a 3D graphical user interface and customize it, I invite you to visit the official website of BumpTop.

So, to your opinion, BumpTop is only a gadget or it will really revolutionize the organization of your work space ?

Do not hesitate to share your impression with the whole community !
