Interface, home page, logo... and nostalgy!

Written by Enigmatux on 04 November 2009 at 10h30
Today, who doesn't know Microsoft Word the word processor designed by Microsoft?

We used it to make a boring or interesting paper at school, to write an important letter or a CV, to write a news : whistle: or better... to compose a beautiful love letter for dlb! : p

In brief, we all had more or less a story with Word ! : yes:

So today I suggest you to discover the evolution of the interface designs, home pages and logos of Microsoft Word for Windows and Mac. : )

And we begin with:

I don't know for you, but for me, my first computer was the computer of my father, a TO9 (Thomson).

TO9 Thomson

On TO9, Word didn't exist yet, the word processor software was Paragraphe. And we have kept it a long time, a very very long time...

TO9 Thomson

So I discovered Word when we bought a computer with Windows 95, it was Word 6.0. ;)

And you, when did you first use Word ? Which version?

Now, which version do you use?

Interesting. : yes: Nice article! : ) I really think the Word 2010 logo looks awful though. It's a shame, the interface looks pretty good. : )

Yeah the interface for '10 is nice (I've been using the technical preview for a while now... legally!)

I find it rather amusing that the Mac version got a true interface before the Windows versions...

Hm, I much prefer the interface and in fact Word '07, more than the look of Word '10.

Once you've been using it, it works out much better.

For example, the Print menu has a live preview of what your print will look like.

That paperclip in "Microsoft Word 97 for Windows (1996)" brought back some horrifying memories : p

: p It was also hard to get rid of him. I spend a lot of time playing with the other animations though. Mainly the wizard I believe. : D It was fun to see them all do their little tricks and sounds.

I remember how kids in school used to crank up the speakers and make the paperclip make noises. It was super annoying >.>

I was never one for an Office Assistant, however I usually used the Office Logo since it was quietest.

Well my first introduction to the computer occurs with Windows 98 so the Word version was Microsoft Word 97 for Windows : )

Now I'm using the 2007 Microsoft office suite
