Today, Mozilla have published the final version of Firefox 3.5. : party:

Initially called 3.1, Mozilla have renamed the new version of Firefox, version 3.5, code name Shiretoko, due to many improvements and new features such as:

- Better performance and stability with the new TraceMonkey JavaScript engine
- The ability to provide Location Aware Browsing using web standards for geolocation
- Support for native JSON, and web worker threads
- Support for new web technologies such as HTML5 video and audio elements
- etc. (for more, click here)

Here a video where Mike Beltzner gives a quick preview of what's new in Firefox 3.5 :

I invite you also to discover FoxTab, a Firefox add-on which allows you to view your tabs in a different style : it brings innovative 3D functionality to your Firefox, like in Safari 4.

FoxTab

It eases switching between tabs for people like me who often have more than 10 tabs open. FoxTab offers six different layouts from which users can choose to view the thumbnails (Stack, Wall, Grid, Row...).

This nice add-on is a cross platform application which supports
almost all the operating system Windows (XP and Vista), Mac OS X et Linux, and it is compatible with Firefox 3 and 3.5. ;)

Downloaded, installed, found a theme that makes it look more like Safari 4, installed the tabs - not bad : ) The tabs thing is a great little add on, there are so many different things - the style of viewing tabs, the 3D angle to view them from (though the selection for that doesn't correspond to the way you see it, like the front one looks from the side - very confusing) and what colour for the background, with the option for an image. And best of all, FF3.5 hasn't crashed yet! : party:

Still hasn't quite replaced Safari 4, but who knows - I'll need to use it a bit more and see.

Still missing how easy it was to use Chrome, especially the tabs - I loved that simplistic interface and intuitive feel : loveit:

This version is more of a under-the-hood update, but a nice update anyway.

Some sites (with a lot of javascript) feel a little faster, but I'll have to test it for a longer period of time to see how it really works.

*waiting for 4.0*
