You certainly know
Google Earth, an interactive mapping application that
allows you to navigate the entire globe and discover satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings... and that gives you some information from the different geographic area.
Well, yesterday, Google launched their latest version,
Google Earth 5.0 (beta), and they improved their data base.
After contemplating the planet Earth, the sky, exploring the Moon or Mars... now,
you can take a plunge into the oceans of the world with top marine experts, you can visit the deepest part of the ocean, the Mariana Trench, you can discover new places including surf, dive, and travel hot spots and shipwrecks...
But also :
- you can improve one's knowledge of ocean observations, climate change, and endangered species
- you can access to many photographic and audiovisual documents from archives of the famous Cousteau Fondation, the National Geographic Society...
It is more than
80 public and private organizations who have taken part in the development of the 3D seabed mapping.
This new version brings also many other new features such as :
- the integration of historical imagery allowing you to see global changes of the world
- the recording of your virtual travel and the possibility to share it with other users
- download routes from GPS
- etc.
