There are many image search engines on the web allowing you to find images via Google, Flickr, Yahoo... such as
Spffy,
Xcavator,
TineEye... or also
Cooliris (ex PicLens) to view images through an immeasurable 3D wall.
Well, today, I invite you to discover an original image search engine named
pixolu.
Entirely in Flash, pixolu is developed by academics of Berlin (
Simon Burkard, Dominik Deichsel, Jörn Ehmann, Friedrich Maiwald and Ben Suksanguan) and supervised by
Professor Dr. Kai Uwe Barthel.
Through
a simple and pleasant interface, pixolu helps you find images by their similarity to each other.
First, you enter one or more specifics keywords. Once Pixolu returns results, you can select one or more images by dragging them to a holding area on the lower right corner of the interface, and then
pixolu refines the search...
For each image, you have access to some information such as the url, its size and the source of the image...
Actually
in beta version, pixolu sometimes might be slow or still have bugs. Attention also to
copyright, there aren't specified on pixolu, so if you want to use image, it is better to check it !
If you want to try pixolu, go to
this page.
P.S : Thanks to
Bidibidou for this information.
