You sick of seeing always the same boot image of your Mac OSX, and you'll like to see an apple more colorful, more modern or a logo to your image !
Well, here
two free software which will allow you
to change the boot image on Mac OSX :
BootXChanger and
Image BootX.
BootXChanger allows
users of Mac OSX 10.4 and 10.5 (PowerPC or Intel, too) to change the boot image of your Mac with
a simple drag and drop.
However,
it will not change the background colour of the boot screen (the background of your image must be the same color : #BFBFBF), the editor advises also using an image with
less than 100 colours in GIF or PNG-8 format, and he recommends on Intel to use simpler shapes or smaller images.
BootXchanger is available in several languages (English, Spanish, Hungarian, German, Russian). For download it and more information, follow this way.
Unlike
BootXChanger,
Image BootX isn't available for users of Leopard,
it runs from Mac OSX 10.2 to Mac OSX 10.4.
Like BootXCHanger, you just need to
drop an image on the soft to create a custom boot and install it. Moreover,
you can change the background colour of the boot screen and you can have a preview. If you want more information about
Image BootX and if you want download it, click
here.
There are already
many icons to substitute the boot image of the famous Apple, but you can also realize yours and share them with members of the community
here.
P.S : Before any installation, it is better to make a safeguard of the original boot image.
