After you have presented animations of students of
Esma,
Gobelins and
Sup'Infograph, I suggest you to discover
a short film of three students of the school Georges Mélies (formerly
EESA) :
La Main des Maîtres.
Clément Delatre,
Looky and
Adrien "CaYuS" Toupet made a remarkable animation, very different than the others :
- first by its
blend of 2D and 3D animation (sceneries and machineries in 3D, characters in 2D)
- then by its style inspired of
Steampunk (science-fiction written today but taking place in the XIXe century), the artist
Mucha, and
Japanese influences (
Jin-Roh of Hiroyuki Okiura et Mamoru Oshii,
Ghost In The Shell of Masamune Shirow,
Castle in the Sky of Hayao Miyazaki, Tokyo Godfather of Satoshi Kon...)
- and finally by its
perfect technical and its staging (with a soundtrack signed
Sebastien Renault) :
through decors with evening colors and an atmosphere full of steam and emotions, Ico and Chari, two young workers at the heart of a revolution, are trying to proclaim their existence through a revolt against
the influence of the Maîtres...
Well, if you like animations such as
Gost in the Shell, Castle in the Sky, The Tomb of Fireflies... if you simply want to see a new animation... I invite you to watch La Main des Maîtres (but beware, some scenes may upset the sensibilities of younger) :
What a pity that the animation does not last longer !
So, if like me you felt this frustration, you can always visit
the official website of La Main des Maître, you'll find information on the story and the realization of the short film.
P.S : Thanks to Gandi and Rim-K.
