You have Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6), you enjoy tabbed browsing in our web browser Chrome, Firefox or other, and you don't like having multiple windows on your desktop...
Well, I invite you to discover the
TotalFinder application which
allows you to improve your Finder adding some features such as a tabs system.
Made by
Antonin Hildebrand,
TotalFinder has been recently published in version 1.0. This application, based on Google Chrome interface for Mac, allows you to
add tabs on top of Finder, to
add a dual mode which displays two Finder windows side-by-side. It also adds a keyboard shortcut to toggle display of these files without the need of the Finder restart and it can move all folders on the top, etc. (for more, click
here).
Compatible with Mac OS X 10.6 only,
TotalFinder isn't free and costs 15$ but there is a trial version available about fifteen days.
If you want more information about
TotalFinder, you can visit
its official website.
And tabbed browsing in your Windows Explorer?
For Windows users, there is a free add-in called
QTTabBar which adds a discreet toolbar to Windows Explorer, avoiding us to open several windows on our office at the same time (click
here to discover the new about it on CrystalXP).
Compatible with Windows XP and Windows Vista (32bits), you can download QTTabBar
here.
There is also a version for Windows 7 users developped by
Paul Accisano who has decided to continue the development of Quizo's add-in (Quizo seemingly disappeared and some rumors said that he died in a car accident, but we don't know if it's true). Available at
this address,
QTTabBar for Windows 7 is still in alpha version.
