Official launch of CustoPack Tools !
It's a cap! What do I say? It's a peninsula!

For over two years now, we have been working on the CustoPack Tools project! Today, it's a great day because you will be at last able to download, install, discover CustoPack Tools and all the possibilities offered by this free software!

The next logical step for Bricopacks :
Customize Windows, it isn't easy... Fortunately BricoPacks were available! Might as well say that Bricopacks, among which we have the famous Vista Inspirat, have been a great success with more than 22 million downloads (only on CrystalXP). These all-in-one packs which change Windows XP appearance have captivated many users thanks to a simple use, a good reliability and a low resource consumption!
Our new mission: doing better than Bricopacks!
Bricopacks weren't perfect. First, they were designed to work only on Windows XP 32-bit. Then it was impossible for users to easily create their own Bricopack.
Therefore the specifications became elementary. The software must :
- be a free software
- allow user to install « packs » in a few clicks which customize Windows
- be compatible with Windows XP 32-bit, Windows Vista, Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit)
- allow the authors of icons and visual styles to easily create « packs »
- be secured and reliable
Two years later... Mission accomplished... CrystalXP introduce to you : CustoPack Tools!
The software splits into 3 parts:
• Choose a CustoPack : designed for general public, this part allows you to install a CustoPack (among those you have downloaded and installed) in order to customize the appearance of your Windows.
• Create a CustoPack : designed for a public more informed, this part allows you to create your own CustoPack with elements which you made or selected. For more information, you can visit our « Creators Room ».
• Settings and configuration : this part (which will be completed soon with more options) allows you to set CustoPack Tools options and to configure some system options.

Some people wonder whether the software might slow down Windows... The answer ? No!
CustoPack Tools customizes Windows directly to the root and it doesn't add a graphic overlay. Only RocketDock, which is well-known for its lightness and which can be enabled/disabled at the installation of a pack, will consume some octets of RAM.
Security, reliability and update:
Some CustoPacks can change important system files. As CustoPack Tools offers the possibility for everyone creating their own packs, we decided to add a digital signature system. Each CustoPack containing dll modifications or additional software (in option) will be encrypted and will has to be digitally signed by the CrystalXP team. Without this digital signature, the CustoPack installation won't be completed (dll modifications and additional software will be ignored during the installation). This digital signature system allows to protect users and avoids that a malicious person creates a pack with viruses.
CustoPack Tools has been tested by more than 150 beta testers through the world for four months. No Windows crash has occured following the installation of a pack, even with a beta version. So the septic people can reassure themselves.
In addition CustoPack Tools has an automatic update system allowing thus to quickly correct a possible bug.
A website to accompagny CustoPack Tools and its CustoPacks:
For the launch of CustoPack Tools, we have decided to introduce the www.custopack.com website.
This website has a FAQ (designed for general public), a Gallery (for downloading CustoPacks) and Creators room (with tutorials to create your own pack). Notice that www.custopack.com is connected with your CrystalXP.net account.
The website is still under development so you can remark that some parts are not yet completed.
Partnership with Ask.com:
CustoPack Tools is free. However you can support the development of the software by accepting to install Ask.com toolbar. Of course, if you don't want to install it and test its different features, you can refuse it. You just have to uncheck the box.
