Firefox 4.0: Mozilla releases its interface mockups

A little news to inform you that recently Mozilla showed on the Mozilla wiki some mockups interface designs for the next Firefox release.

Mozilla wants to change the interface of Firefox and has already unveiled last week mockups for Firefox 3.7 interface.

And today, we can discover the first screenshots of design changes for Firefox 4.0 under Windows.

An interface with glass effects which apparently could look like Google Chrome because tabs could be below the address bar.

The menu bar and title bar could disappear, the firefox 4.0 mockups show two buttons on the right of the address bar (Page and Tools), an other button to the right of the address bar could be used to start loading a page whose address has been typed, to stop loading if it's in the process of doing so, and to reload it if it's finished loading...

Of course, these mockups are just ideas, they are not final versions, users can give their opinions (positive and negative) in order to improve them.

I must say I look at this and the first thing that comes to my mind is "Opera + Chrome"...

It can work like Chrome with tabs at the top? And the tabs are nigh identical to Opera's, even down to the design shape!

Not that I'm accusing Mozilla designers of stealing, it's a good improvement in my opinion! Should be interesting to see how these base concepts evolve

the new looks simpler and beautiful

I wish it won't take much memory but it seems obvious that it would :(

Memory isn't that big a concern now. Desktops now start at 3G, and go all the way to 24GB. Laptops come from 2-8GB. It looks pretty nice, but has a release date been set yet?

Tweaking with Vishal has featured a skin and process on his site about how to get the 3.7 skin (note, it does not work on a Mac, it makes the window turn black).
