Just a little news to inform you that Google Chrome should have an extension manager soon.
Well, even if the first aim of this open source web browser, is to allow users to navigate quickly in an simple and discreet interface, to fill in some lacks (some users of Google Chrome return to Firefox because of a lack of functionalities),
Google has published its plan to build into Chrome an extension system.
Through
a n official document, Chromium developer has unveiled a list with some features (Bookmarking/navigation tools , content enhancements, content filtering: Adblock, Flashblock, Privacy control, Parental control... ) which will appear in Google Chrome in order to customize it.
Don't expect to have many gadgets and new features like Firefox, the team of Chromium said that extensions proposed
should be stable, simple, light, secure and maximum compatible with later versions of Chrome in order to minimize problems.
If you want more information about the future arrival of an extension system for Google Chrome, you can visit
this page.
For the moment, we don't know when this extension system will appear, no date was given.
So, wait and see.
Well, for once we won't stop there.
Firefox has
many extensions that allow you to customize your web browser and expand its field of action.
Thanks to many add-ons such as "
Alerts and Updates ", "
Photos, Music and Video " or "
Themes ",
you can customize your browser functions of your tastes and desires.
So, if you are using Firefox, you can click
here where you'll find add-ons to get the latest on the weather, to turn your Firefox into a photo uploader or give it a new look such as :
NASA Night Launch by mcdavis941
Red Cats by Red Fat Lazy Cat
Of course, before installing a theme or another add-on, it is better
to check compatibility with your operating system and your version of Firefox.
And for users of Google Chrome, know that there are some themes to customize it. If you want to discover some of them, you can read
this article.
Good to see that Chrome will be going into some extensions, though it's even better to know they will be simple light and stable, and save Chrome from degenerating into another FireFox. (Hehe, FF users everywhere must hate me
Anyway I hope Chromes keeps improving so that Firefox can take their good ideas and improve itself even more. We already got a new theme
Well for a very basic and little demanding user Chrome may be a choise, but for a power user this is out of question.
Beauty wins it for me, and besides on my system at the very least Firefox is slow and maddening, especially compared to Chrome.
