Microsoft Silverlight 2 VS Adobe Flash Player 10

Only 24 hours chrono...

Geschrieben von Enigmatux der 15 Oktober 2008 an 13h45
Yesterday, Microsoft has finally launched the final version of their technology Silverlight 2.

Silverlight

For those who aren't a little familiarized with Silverlight, I suggest you to read this article written by TheGuit when Microsoft realized the version beta 2 of Silverlight. ;)

On the menu of the new features of Silverlight 2 :

- . NET Framework support with a large number of libraries
- all the languages used by Visual Studio in the environment .NET (possibility of using C#, Visual Basic.NET, IronPython...)
- graphic personalization tools added
- a new Deep Zoom technology added
- improved Server Scalability and Expanded Advertiser Support
- added a DRM system based on technology PlayReady of Microsoft
- Etc. (for more, go here and there)

Available for Windows and Mac OS, it is compatible with Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari, you can download it here.

With this new version of Silverlight, Microsoft want to compete with Adobe Flash Player and don't hesitate to recall that : During the 17 days of the 2008 Olympics Games in Beijing, NBCOlympics.com, powered by Silverlight, had more than 50 million unique visitors, resulting in 1.3 billion page views, 70 million video streams and 600 million minutes of video watched, increasing the average time on the site (from 3 minutes to 27 minutes) and Silverlight market penetration in the U.S. by more than 30 percent. Broadcasters in France (France Televisions SA), the Netherlands (NOS), Russia (Sportbox.ru) and Italy (RAI) also chose Silverlight to deliver Olympics coverage online.

Well, strangely (simple and pure coincidence ?) today, just 24 hours after the arrival of Silverlight 2, Adobe has launched Adobe Flash Player 10.

Adobe Flash Player 10

- Etc. (For more information, click here)

Available for Windows, Mac OS and Linux, it is compatible with Firefox 2 and 3, Internet Explorer, Opera and Safari 9.5 (for more details, go to this page).
For download Adobe Flash Player 10, follow this way.

Come on, bets are open, will Microsoft Silverlight dethrone Adobe Flash Player ? Or Adobe Flash Player still have good days ahead of them ?

For the moment, nothing is safe, Wait and See !
