Here is a promising small software designed by a Japanese author, following the example of Deskspace (ex Yod'm 3D), which allows you to manage many desktop simultaneously : DeskHedron.
Entirely free, DeskHedron is a new 3D virtual desktop manager for Windows 2000 and XP.



With this application, you can open several windows in different areas of work and switch from one desktop to another (one dedicated only on CrystalXP, a second for graphics, another to write a news, etc.), thanks to the mouse wheel or left and right cursor keys, with a 3D effect in the shape of a polygon !

Well, once launched, DeskHedron gives you two desktops, but using Desktop +, an option located to the menu on task tray icon by the right click, you can manage until 9 virtual desktops !



In addition, each virtual desktop is customizable : display icons or not, different wallpapers...
You can decide at any time to leave DeskHedron, but applications are still launched. Your virtual desktops will be deleted once your session is finished or when you log off or restart your PC.

Attention, DeskHedron doesn't support multi monitor environment.

Available in English (with explanatory notes), it requires the installation of DirectX 9.C.

The 3D effect is relatively simple and fluid, but in function of the performance of your computer, this could change. It is better to have a PC with a minimum of performance (CPU and graphics card recent) for a maximum of fluidity !
