RoamAbout of Vysr is
a plug-in entirely free for Firefox and Internet Explorer running on Linux, Mac OS X and Windows.
Thanks to this add-on, you can have on your browser web services or social networks that you use certainly regularly (such as Wikipedia, You Tube, Twitter, Flickr, etc.),
without being obliged to visit them.
Well, to make your research,
you will no longer need to leave your current page and open a new window or a new tab ! Once installed, and
only a few clicks, RoamAbout puts in place a toolbar, at the bottom-right of your screen, with buttons corresponding to the desired web services.
You can find the complete list of applications proposed by Vysr
here.
This bar, you can decide to show it or not through this small icon:
You have the possibility to choose or to take out the services offered by checking or unchecking.
Then, to use RoamAbout, it's easy : you just have to highlight in your web page a word or sentence, next, click on the icon of the desired service, a box appears on your page with an overview .. .
For example, I do not know .... Uh... I am doing research on the city of dlb and TheGuit. If I remember correctly, it is Dijon !
I want to discover its nearby towns, I get this :
Go, here is a second example with CrystalXP.net :
I want to share my discovery with my friend(s), I can send the link directly via Gmail or Facebook !
For the moment,
the applications are still fairly limited, their opening can sometimes be a little long.
RoamAbout is an interesting plug-in, with a promising future, but it needs to be improved (even on level graphic design !).
Recently, new applications have been added, such as searching eBay, the music service from Grooveshark ..., and since July 21, Vysr
opened his platform to developers, whose the first to appear in the tool bar is Viddu, a site that allows users to share their experiences on a product and compare prices.
If you want to test RoamAbout and get an idea of this plug-in, I invite you to visit
this page to download it.
