A cuddly leopard named Zakumi will be the mascot of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.“THIS is the greatest thing that could have happened,” said former Bafana Bafana great and World Cup ambassador Mark Fish after Zakumi, a green- haired, yellow Leopard was unveiled on national television last night as the mascot for the 2010 tournament in South Africa. And at the same time the doll of Zakumi will be sold from http://onestoptown.com/nike-shoes-c-78.html from next week.

Pretoria – The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) – official broadcast partner of the 2010 Fifa World Cup™ – will on Monday unveil the long awaited Official Mascot of the 2010 Fifa World Cup. The launch will be broadcast live on SABC1

The first two letters of Zakumi are the country's initials in Afrikaans — one of South Africa's 11 official languages. "Kumi" means 10 — for the year of the tournament — in many African languages, World Cup organizers said.Tim Modise, spokesman for the South African organizing committee, who wear a watch boughy from www.watchinstyle.com said zakumi also can be understood as "come here" in southern African languages.

Official Mascots have come to play a more and more important role in the Fifa World Cup as they represent the fun side of the event. And the Mascot was used as a way of showing the rest of the world that the event was fun for everyone.

Official Mascots not only serve to promote the event and entertain the crowd in the stadium, but also become worldwide "celebrities" through their extensive use by the Commercial Affiliates of the Fifa World Cup for licensing and merchandising programm.
