Hello

I´m new here in the forum.
The visual styles on crystal Xp are very nice   but I would like to have a style that's a mix of my actual style and a vista style.
I don`t know much about making a new style so I would be happy if anyone could made the style for me (there are only a few modifications to do).
My old style needs only 3 things:
-new min/maximize/close buttons
-a new Start-Button and
-new button in taskbar to switch the programs (see pictures)

it should be a mix of my actual style

I`ll upload the style in the next time if needed.

I hope that isn`t much work otherwise I also would be glad if someone could tell me how to modify the style.

and there are lots of Visual styles coming at every second so there maybe som which suites your request

If not just update your thread and we'll help you.

But I think most of the styles are very bright without the vista transparent effect.

do you think that it´s possible to modify my style?

Edit: Would it also possible to change the status bar?
Edit2: I tried a little bit with ResHacker but I changed everything else instead of what I wanted to change

By the time I´m thinking of changing the hole titlebar and taskbar. When the Style is made up of .bmps (isn´t it?) I only had to change some of them. But which ?

Are you talking about a Visual style or a Windowblind skin?

only the visual style.
a transparent frame would look very nice, but that isn`t nessesary.

So first of all, Get ResEdit and open your msstyle with that application

Go to butmap section and use the arrow keys to go down while you look at the bitmap previews on right,

There will be some bitmaps similer to
Frame Caption
Frame Minimised
Frame Maximised

You can edit those bitmaps as you want and also can replace them with new ones

If you're not capable of modifying them, then, go to the Temp folder in the ResEdit directory, where you installed the programm (C>Program Files>TGTsoft>ResEdit) and copy the files (the bitmaps you want to change) to another location Then attach them here and I'll look to modify them

I tried a little bit, but I doesn`t get, what I want.

I have packed the files (original styles and the temp data of both as well as a screenshot of how it should look like) into a winrar archive (1,35MB).
The only problem is that my webspace seemt to be full and I can´t upload the file in the forum.
perhaps you could send me your e-mail adress by PM.

Would you please try to change that for me

if it isn´t much work, could you also change the progress bar (or how it´s called - I marked it on a picture in the archive)

and another thing,
Do you have another Visual style in mind from which I can alter the resources to your one, don't forget to give the link to that too.

In the archive are the two styles. the nightstar.msstyles is my actual style, in the other style are the icons (title bar with buttons, taskbar etc)

Please zip the files and remove unnecessary things

and bring it up around 4MB or less

the file i uploaded has only 1,4MB.
when you extract the files it´s about 13mb
the size results from the original styles + the temp files + some pictures
if you want i can delete some of the pictures of the temp files but I don`t konw which ones you need - maybe i would delete the bmps you need.

Please change:
Title bar (and window frame if possible)
Taskbar (with start button and the buttons for the applications)

and if you want you could change the progress bar
