Dear friends,

 I am a new entrant in this field of applying these extra superficial fitting to enhance the look of my Desktop by using Crystal Xp shell. After i installed it i wanted to change my icon to my requirement. I went thro some of the other posts to find that Icon Packager was the solution to change icons at one stretch. I downloaded many icons which had extn of .ico & .png. Now Icon Packager is not accepting these extensions. I for example downloaded "LonghornHighPX". How to install the icons into icon packager or where ever it has to go. I need someone out there to help me out with a proper detailed tut as to how to get these icons with .ico & .png into the system. I am waiting with bated breath for an instant response. Thanx.

IconPackager is a software that requires .ip files.
many of them are available on websites specialised for this software

.ico files can be used to replace manually the original icons of folders, etc... of your PC, and PNGs are mostly used for added softwares, such as Docks, AveDesk, Samurize, etc...

  Thanx a plenty for responding !! Now that u say that Icon Pacakager needs .ip extension, that software seems worthless to me now. As the icon and .png stuff which i downloaded from the Crystal XP site i want to utilise them.
Now just plainly instruct me how and what to do with .ico & .png
Is there any software that can load these icons and .png at a stretch?
 I have installed objectdock to have the animated bar. How i can i use the .png in that software. How do i go about?

to use.ico files for your own folders, just make a right click on your folder, shortcut,...
  properties
  in the last tab, you'll find the place to change the icon used

to use.png files in ObjectDock, place them in the folder of the software
(C:\.........................\ObjectDock\

 Now atleast things look clearer to what it was an her back.
Now in the case of using the icon the last tab which u said came after i installed Icon Packager but the problem now is  the icon Packager v3 is a trial version and it not allowing me to change anything and when i select to apply an icon it says register it.
