| scorpioninblack Profil: Penguin | Hi all!
I heard about the newest version of Chrome that was released, but my question is why do they make it so difficult to uninstall? I find that to be very unsettling and suspicious!! I tried the first version and found I was having problems when I used Firefox so there was apparently some sort of conflict with the Chrome beta version. What infuriated me was the fact that I had a hell of a time getting Chrome out of my machine!! Since I have an HP computer I had to do a non destructive recovery to rid myself of it! I was both shocked and appalled that Google would stoop to the level of some malware!! Does anyone know if they've made the uninstalling process simple and complete? i'm curious about the improvements they've made...but won't touch it with a ten foot pole till I know I have the option to get rid of it if I choose to!!

Maybe I had such difficulty because it was still in a beta stage. I'm going to try it again, but being a very cautious person by nature, I plan to set a restore point and downloading and running it in safe mode with internet access.........do you think that will work okay?

Download it, and run it as a regular administrator (or in safemode WITHOUT internet). It should work out okay.
(You won't have your anti-virus/firewall apps loaded in safe-mode w/ internet, so using internet there could be dangerous ) ---------------

Thanks Legace for the informative advice...I forget that I would be totally open! I'm going to hold off on it for now, I remember that installing the first version was difficult and I've been on the net checking things out and there are still a lot of complaints about problems with the installation process. If anyone here is using the new version I would love to hear their experiences. All in all, it seems odd that Google can't seem to get the installation process right! Installing Firefox and Opera was no problem whatsoever, but it seems to be with Chrome. I'm going to keep my eye on responses from others before I tackle it. With all those fresh young 'brains' at Google you would think they could get things right once and for all, it scares curious users away when they hear or read about difficulty with a program. Explorer, Firefox, Safari, and Opera install without a hitch. Why won't Chrome?
poiru Profil: Moderator | I've never really bothered to test Chrome, but now is probably the time to do so. I'll report how the [un]install goes ---------------

Just did a quick test:
Seems to be a snappy browser, but the lack of plugins and good Linux support (I tested it on Windows, but I use Linux [Ubuntu] most of the time) will probably keep me away from it for now. Firefox is good enough as it is, and it, too, will improve over time, so I see no real reason in changing from Firefox to Chrome. As long as one doesn't use IE6, everything is okay.
The installation was smooth -- you download a downloader, which will automatically download and install Chrome. The only thing I disliked about the installation is that there wasn't an option to NOT import Firefox bookmarks, history, etc. Uninstallation was easy, too. I hate the fact that it opens a window after uninstallation to comment on why you uninstalled Chrome.
I've got nothing bad to say about Chrome 3.0. Installation/uninstallation was fast (which means it isn't full of useless crap), but I'll sticky to Firefox.. For now.. ---------------

Wow, so there was no trouble with the installing and uninstall! Well I guess I'll go ahead and try it. I'm strictly a Firefox user and of course I'd never change.....Chrome lacks too many things that I've grown very comfortable with. I would just use Chrome once in a while to do an extensive search. When I did install the first version it definitely caused problems with Firefox running properly, as soon as I got rid of Chrome, Firefox returned back to normal. That's the only concern I would have now. I'll try it and see if there are still conflicts. Thanks again Legace!!
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Interesting, Firefox never worked for me until I had installed Chrome
I've still got the beta version of Chrome, haven't updated yet, might see if it uninstalls ok... ---------------

Well I downloaded Chrome and it was a snap just as you said it would be! I also opened up Firefox and there was no problems with it! They've really made some improvements and eliminated a lot of bugs from the first beta version, I remember that Chrome kept trying to make itself the default browser and that's been corrected. Like I said I'm a confirmed "FireFoxer" and I'll use Chrome on occasion. Thanks for testing things out Legace!
poiru Profil: Moderator | No problem. It's good that there is a browser like Chrome - Firefox can copy features ---------------
