| pspandy Profil: New Penguin | hi, i installed the latest version of rocketdock the other day (1.35) and when i checked the setting minimize windows to dock, it minimizes them but doesnt show a preview screen of the window in the dock, its just invisible, i am running windows vista basic and cant seem to find the bug solution anywhere, does anyone know how to fix it?
thanks | |

In Windows Vista, they will be rendered as a real-time preview if you have Desktop Composition enabled in your Windows performance settings and the ability to use Aero Glass.
|
So, since you have Vista Basic, which does not have Aero, you cannot use the live previews. ---------------

that sucks, because it works in windows xp, do you ever think they will come up with live previews for vista basic? because RKLauncher has it but i dont like using that Dock
Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | I would think so. They need to have a reason for people to download their product so, yeah, it will happen soon I bet. ---------------

I'm having a similiar/same problem. Using Vista Home Basic which I know will not show previews of minimized windows, but it is supposed to show an icon, right? So if I've minimized Firefox, it should show a Firefox icon and when I hover the mouse over it, it will also show the title. BUT, I get no icon, just an "empty" space that when I hover the mouse over, it shows the title and clicking it works to reopen the window. But if I've got 4 or 5 windows minimized it's a real pain to hover over each one to find the one I want.
Does anyone else have this problem (or even better a solution)?
Thanks. | |

I've tried ObjectDock and although it doesn't have the missing icon problem, the free version doesn't offer a docklet to replace the system tray. I guess I have to give up one or the other. Thx.
satanictoothpaste Profil: New Penguin | i have windows 7 yet I do not have the live-preview for some reason . I have no idea what they're talking about in the help file. Google's result for "Enable desktop connection" is "how to connect to your computer at work with remote desktops ." HELPMEHELPMEHELPME Message edited by satanictoothpaste on 04-26-2010 at 09:26:19 AM

Nathan- Profil: New Penguin | aha i figured it out. purely by accident. open you task manager. go to processes find a program called "dwm" and close it. it will re-open so you will need to close it again. then it shouldnt open till you restart your comp. im sure theres a way to stop it from opening altogether but im lazy.
as far as i can tell dwm doesnt do much. supposedly it creates preview windows in your task bar. which is useless with rocketdock anyway
p.s created an account purely to tell you this.
