| dazza Profil: Big Penguin | I recently installed windows 7,
My monitor, on every other os is capable of 1280x1024 resoluution.
On windows 7 the highest is 1024x786
the only way to make it bigger is to change the colour quality to 16 bit.
which makes it look sh!t
is there any solution to this? ---------------

tntanto Profil: Penguin | Windows 7 installs the drivers automatically, unless it doesn't find them or you've got some of the BETA's or the RC version. Message edited by tntanto on 09-29-2009 at 07:41:50 PM

Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | Strange, when I used my monitor (by Xerox), it recognized that it had a max resolution of 1280x1024.
I don't know much about 7 troubleshooting yet, so I'm not able to help right now. I'll see if I can dig anything up.
What is your video card? I know that nVidia cards should work fine (they have been working with Microsoft I believe) ---------------

dazza Profil: Big Penguin | ok, now this is odd, i havent installed drivers for vista because the only drivers for my graphiics card are maxed at xp, i have a nvidia geforce mx420 (its really old)
i have windows 7 build 7100
thanks for helping in advance! ---------------

tntanto Profil: Penguin | It's because of your video card it's old, weak and outdated, you've also got build 7100.
dazza Profil: Big Penguin | I know that my graphics card is old and outdated, but it works on vista, with no drivers or problems at 1280x1024, it even made that my default resolution.
So there is no hope? ---------------

tntanto Profil: Penguin | With the beta version of Windows 7, no. You could try getting the retail version of Windows 7 everything should work then.
Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | I don't actually think the 4 MX series is supported by Win7. The latest driver by nVidia is for XP.
Now, drivers for Vista usually work in 7, but I don't think XP ones will. You could always check (unless you have already) in the Optional section of Windows Update.
I have a card laying around from an RTM they gave me (I had ordered a better one by the time it arrived). If you were in the US, I would offer to send it to you.
Do you have PCI Express 2.0 x16 (I believe that is the port now for video cards...)? Or something different?
This is the card I use, and it works great on 7:

dazza Profil: Big Penguin | i attemptedto install the driver, but because the driver is xp if i install on vista it says: This is meant for windows xp, this is not a version of windows
Should i just go back to xp? ---------------

| |
Tanshin Profil: Penguin Pro | You could always just find a cheap new card *shrugs* ---------------
