Yes, I had the same problem earlier. It's because of Y'z shadow. It means that some background program is running, like an update perhaps. Instead of hiding the application properly, the application developers just reduced its transparency to 0. That way, you cannot see it, but Y'z shadow still detects it and produces a shadow. It's a poor programming practice, it usually also ends up taking more memory, but what can you do about it?
My suggestion is to either run Task Manager, and find and terminate these programs, or add them to the Y'z shadow exception list. That's what worked for me.
By the way, the programs that were causing this problem for me were Adobe update and MSN Live Messenger.
