jpEnterprize Profil: New Penguin | This information is fine, for somebody who is 'puter litter-it. HERE IS MY ISSUE: I already have a "shell package" loaded on my PC from the IT Guy at work who fixed my PC. I like it. But I can do without the TUX Dude. I'd like to load the "Longhorn" Package. I've loaded, unzipped, and ran the patch. But when I go to choose my new Longhorn Theme, it is NOT available? What did I do wrong? Do I ned to Uninstall my current "Shell Package", then reload my new one? That seems odd to me, I should be able to switch to any Theme at any given time, once it is loaded and made available. Sincerely, Retard from Michigan.

Well don't be upset, here is a brief resume of what you have to do: 1. Download all your extracted (unzip them) Visual Style files into C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Theme 2. You have to patch your uxtheme.dll, there are several programs that can do the patching of this file: Starskin ,UXTheme Multi-Patcher , and my favourite one Style Xp 3. Then enter to the file you download, and the double click the file.msstyle

Xorios Profil: Penguin Pro | I just want to report that the link on this forum is broken (I don't want to register on this forum just to report that). But you can found the same patch on another page of the same forum here (2nd link). I don't know how are the other patches but I used this one (because it is the one that somebody recommend me on this forum) and I just want to say this patch is working without any problem. Could crystalmsn or a modo edit the first post? Because the link given is also broken. Maybe just copy the post of Tessy, which is very complete. Thanks. And sorry for my poor English.

acdcrocks Profil: Big Penguin | the UXTheme multipathcer is a software that patches the file UXtheme.dll this is neccesary to apply a visual style, but if you have or have had a bricopack installed, it is not neccesary, since the pack does that to....
| |
Neil Chances are not had but gained....... Profil: Penguin Pro | A patcher is necessary to iuse 3rd party Visual styles in your Operating system (XP) since microsft doesn't allow to use them by default In bricopacks, the uxtheme.dll, the .dll controls the behaviour of the XP appearence is patched using Neowin Multipatcher (same as Uxtheme multipatcher)

Now I'm gonna sound like a complete and utter noob ...well, I am. Where do you download the so called Bricopack?? Because I really want to download the "Media Center Style", the screenshot can be seen here:

| |
GuiTuX Désherbant Profil: Penguin Pro | Welcome to CrystalXP At first, your image is too large for CrystalXP (640x480 max). Bricopacks can be downloaded on this page Before installing the chosen bricopack, have a look on this page Once downloaded and installed the bricopack, you will be able to install the selected visual style as we explained in the preceding messages. Topic to be moved
Jth Profil: New Penguin | Thank for the reply, and sorry about the size of the image - I didn't know of the restrictions; but I did download a Bricopack, and I downloaded also the theme that I want and I extrated it to the Theme-map under Resources, but............... I did then click on all the files that were there in the map I downloaded, but nothing happened (besides that the program SkinStudio opened up when I clicked on one file called "Energy Blue" - and well, I didn't know where to go from there. And I then setup the BricoPack that was in the Themes folder; and now I have a sligthly different theme ...but not the one I want; and I will hopefully be succesful in getting rid of this theme that I accidentally started up on my computer
GuiTuX Désherbant Profil: Penguin Pro | Let us take again step by step the installation of the visual style which you downloaded. The bricopack has been installed, your computer had started again and the visual style you wanted has been already downloaded. This step, Download all your extracted (unzip them) Visual Style files into C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Theme .(first screenshot). Then, enter to the file you download, and the double click the file.msstyle (in grey on the second screenshot). Once the visual style chosen, it should be applied. (same screenshot)
