Hi guys I've been using the briso packs available here for a quite a while and I absolutely love longhorn but the log on screen doesn't fall within my preferred taste so I would love to learn how to further customize the logon background.
Thanks for any help you guys can give me. : ]

Upload the logonui.exe file, found in the C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder to a service like www.zshare.net and post the link here.

I'll see if that file can be edited, and tell you how then.

If you want to save the trouble, you can go find complete, ready logons here:
:ar: link 1
:ar: link 2

(if you find a logon you like, post the link of that logon here, and I'll post instructions on how to swap your current logon with that one)

I'm interested too, what can I do to install this Logon screen?

Do I have to overwrite the logoui.exe file in  windows/system32  folder?

Thank you

No, you don't.

First, download the logonui.exe file.
Then, renambe it to logonuicustom.exe (or something like that).

After you've renamed it, copy it to the system32 folder.

Once its there, do the following: Start -> Run... -> type in regedit and then OK -> browse to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows NT>Current Version>Winlogon

Once you've clicked on "Winlogon", look at the right column. There should be a value called "UIHost". Double-click on UIHost and change the value from logonui.exe to logonuicustom.exe

Reboot, and you should see the changes

I would love to know how to customize it my self since I like to work on photoshop and am pretty decent but I must say some of those are very tempting.

And how do you do to install logon screens like this, with folders, wallpapers etc?

Download the logon from ears1991 and extract it to your desktop.
Then, download the following file and extract it to your desktop.
:ar: www.elisanet.fi/legace/Logon Swapper.zip

Once you've unzipped the Logon Swapper.zip file, run "Logon Swapper.exe".

Then, when Logon Swapper asks for a logon file, give it the logonui.exe file from the ears1991 (NOT the logonxp file) pack.

Then press Swap logon and it should swap the logons.

You need to use 24-bit BMP (Bitmap) images to replace the old files.
Sorry for not answering, I didn't see your post :err:

It happens.
 thanks :happy2:
Would a basic swapping of bitmaps with the same size as the previous ones be all I would need to do?
Or does it also require changing the uifile string code slightly?

If the bitmap is the same size, then replacing it will do
