I see no reason not to use SP3, with SP3 you get the newest systemfiles for XP
SP2 is old and there are a lot of security holes

True, dat.

SP3 is way better ... though it takes a lot more disk space.

SP3 brings improvements in secuirity and performance. So, its better.
The only way I can think of how SP2 could be better is that some applications (everything works for me) do not work on SP3.

It will, unless you integrate it to the XP installation disk  (like I've done) [you can't uninstall it then, though]

I have to agree with this. Once you install RocketDock, Widgets, and Vista Inspirat 2 on XP, Vista seems pointless.

SP3  works much better. Only have a little trouble: not runs High Definition for Audio BUS Devices. But, if you install from integrated XP SP3, the machine works perfect!

About Vista... is trashy!!!  :beurk:

For Vista you need a huge amount of RAM and it will work laggy.

Now let's see Windows 7.

Vista bashing is seen on so many places before. It's not appreciated here. Discussion is of course possible, but only if you come with constructive comments.

The above comments isn't really counted in that category in my opinion.

But Gruzzy, we're not trashing any person or member. We're just reasoning why Vista doesn't match up.

I don't care about how much RAM Vista takes; it's only normal for a new generation of OS to take more memory. However, there are few improvements in Vista besides the visual appearance.

Vista's only a better option for gamers, or so I hear. It allows for more RAM to be installed than XP and handles multi-core processing better ... but that's just about the only major advantages I know of. To me, it's more like an update for XP than a completely new version of Windows.

you probably should start a new post for that, not just adding it to another one

Hi guys!

Just wanted to thank you fellas for your help in prompting me to download SP3......like so many others, I was resistant after reading about incidents involving problems with their pc that others were experiencing.  The consensus here among the moderators gave it a thumbs up and things are working fine!  Thanks again guys!  Oh, I just wanted to add that the CrystalXP team and the guys at Avast are the most knowledgeable techs I've run across and I know just who to turn to when I have a problem!
