Sorry to tell you this, but those cards don't overclock worth a crap. He'll be better off getting a new card, Nvidia or ATI.

Oh, and keep in mind that overclocking normally voids the warranty.

So there isn't any possibility?

Also, I tried his computer, the card isn't crap, it works well.

You won't really know how "well" a card works unless you play some hardcore FPS games.

Try google, there are lots of overclocking-forums/tutorials

And be carefull, a well working graphic-card is better then a broken graphic-card   :jap:

Look at the benchmarks for that card. It didn't even score a 1. Heres the link, towards the bottom of the page.

Your friend must be playing at 640x480 resolution.

Those cards are on the low-end side of the market so I don't think you can really overclock those cards that well. Those cards suck, anyway.

I suggest gets a nVidia or ATi card. The old 7xxx series of nVidia should be quite cheap now..

Now calm down, folks! Nowhere has he stated he actually uses his card for anything more than watching movies on YouTube.

Until we know WHY he wants a better card, we really can't tell him to get a GeForce or Radeon...  :non:

No offence, but that's too old to be considered an actual game. :winktongue:

But it has good graphics

Anyway, what nVIDIA card do you recommend him, what type, what's the best one?

It all depends on his budget.

For US$ 75 or so, he can get an extremely powerful GeForce 8 series. More than enough to play all games released till last year at their best graphics.

Of course, if he's willing to spend more, I'd recommend something in the GeForce 9 series... which can go as high as US$250. They're expensive, yes - but the only cards powerful enough to handle the newer games coming out this year.

Well if the only game he is going to play is CS, then the nVidia 8xxx cards would be a good deal. Here are some good choises that should be more than enough to play CS and which should overclock pretty well, too: (note, price in ¤)

We live in Romania, but we'll see the prices. Thanks!

Anyway, is there a Windows Visual theme that doesn't eat too much RAMs except Windows Classic theme? My friend has some problems ^^ So please, can you recommend me one?

Yeah, the Vista Inspirat 2 BricoPack without the add-ons (RocketDock, Transparency, etc.) doesn't take much extra space. It just replaces the Windows theme files... so no extra RAM usage.

I don't think so. If your computer can't even handle that basic amount of memory correctly, you'd better get some more RAM installed. XP is not meant to run below 256MB RAM ... and 512MB is recommended. And when I'm using Photoshop, my memory usage can jump to as high as 3GB.

Another way to improve your computer's memory allocation would be to increase Virtual Memory / Page File.

I have 2500 MB of ram so...

Depends on your usage. For Photoshop, the more the better. For normal XP, about 512MB to 1GB is recommended.

But why are you so concerned with how much RAM a theme takes if you already have so much?

Not really... the Windows 1.0 original theme probably used even less RAM.
