ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | So they've finally admitted it I did wonder how long it would take them... The new layout with tabs on top... to me, that's genius... not to mention V8... this looks like a biggy, can't wait for the beta!
Breakfastclub Profil: Penguin Pro | The problem is, I don`t trust google
MasterCloud Youkaïdi, youkaïda. Profil: Animateur | In Yahoo We Trust ? Good news for Google's fan but.. I prefer my little & cute Firefox
scorpioninblue Profil: Penguin | Yes Breakfast I can understand your distrust, anytime any corporation reachs a mega size I find myself becoming distrustful. I removed Google desktop because I felt it was 'intrusive'. However I absolutely love the idea that this is the one thing that could really challenge Microsoft's Internet Explorer juggernaut! I'm sure the boys at Microsoft won't sleep so soundly now! I'm a devoted Firefox fan but will check out whatever Google may have to offer. We all knew this was coming! Let the games begin!!

ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | The beta is out people, the beta is out!!! I wish it had come out tomorrow though I haven't got time now to test it and do a blog post on it Sleep and then back to school... LINK http://www.google.com/chrome LINK EDIT: Dear God... I've used it not 2 minutes... I'm in love... Though it scrolls too much... but it's already got my bookmarks and passwords from Mozilla... Just wish vista didn't have the crappy glass... doesn't look so good on the Chrome... I might change to a solid blue... if I can... wish vista could allow changes for colours of each window EDIT2: Oh wow it has text area resizing like Safari! I love it more and more each second... I really need to find something wrong with this...
haran Profil: Penguin | I want to see what people think of it before I download another browser. Personally, I find Safari a really nice browser that uses less resources than firefox.
AndyQHW Profil: New Penguin | ick, it doesn't use visual styles and i can't control fonts like i can with firefox (or at least i can't _force_ sites to use fonts) and the tab bar is on top and it's just ugly in general

Yes, it's true, but only for Windows. In Linux Google Desktop needs the root permissions.
sosoe222 Profil: Penguin Pro | Hehe, this baby works sweet Yeah, indeed, it lacks some features and some work on JavaScript engine, but surely it's better than IE6 and probably IE7 (if they come up with some fixes). It can't really challenge Firefox yet, but it works well. I love it and I think I'll be using it for a while If someone likes to try new stuff, this is one of those hot and nice new stuff. Absolutely good start for browser -- bravo, Google!

uttaresh The Penguin Master Profil: Penguin Pro | Google may offer a lot of services for free, but WE here on CrystalXP just HATE their bad sense of style. I mean, G-Mail and Google search have the worst themes on the internet! No way I'm getting this browser!
sosoe222 Profil: Penguin Pro | Boohoo, it doesn't have shiny interface... so what? I think Google Chrome has been designed very good. Excellent if you ask me. I don't like much shiny interfaces, and this is simple but smooth. Therefore, Chrome doesn't waste system resources on fancy UI. But I'm 90% sure they will expand capabilities of Chrome in the final version and allow developers to create custom addons and skins -- so there's still some hope for new UI. Performances of browser do not reflect in UI. Conclusion: 1) I don't hate their style 2) It's not bad Just my opinion, cause I don't like random comments like browser's bad cause it doesn't shine. Regards.

I downloaded it last night and was some what surprised at how 'stark' it is, if you like color and shine you'll be somewhat disappointed, the features and functions are winners though! I'll use it but FIrefox will always be my mainstay, there are two many great helpful extensions there to give it up no matter what the memory usage is It's also great to have the ability to change the look, customization clearly sets it above everyone else. I'm wondering if the boys at Microsoft will get off their asses and do something truly creative with Explorer, my God I can't believe that one of the biggest monopolies on the face of the earth can't take a gamble and be truly innovative! Why do they wait for Apple to make a move before trying anything new, and now it will be Google! Well at least we know now they have a real challenger to deal with!

ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | For me, the design, I like it. Simple, smooth, and personally it looks better than FF3 standard style. And the tabs at the top is something I've always craved - now they've done it! For me, a perfect browser, and I'm not a Google fan, all I use Google for is searching, I can't be bothered with everything else they can offer, but this browser... it's converted me Well, to Chrome at least, though still not Google. It may be beta, and have a long way to go, but it's replaced Firefox in my life, and after the hassles I had with that thing - good riddance. It wasn't a browser that suited me... Don't get me wrong it's good and all, and version 2 was brilliant, I loved it, but when version 3 came out... I dunno, it lost that magic something
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Why the little... They'll have to change it though, when this get's out everyone will uninstall it and Google can wave goodbye. Massive cock-up though. Anyone else noticed, when you uninstall Chrome you get this: "Are you sure you want to uninstall Google Chrome? (Was it something we said?)" That made me lol... Not that I've uninstalled it, God no, it's too good, I don't care what they do with it, I don't upload much I care about anyway.
cerium 1+1 = 42 Profil: Penguin Pro | Hi Legace, this is one interpretation of the EULA Moreover, before criticize the Chrome license, I want to know if you read the "Terms of use" of your current browser ? If you don't you can't, criticize Chrome's one, because you don't know other licenses of other browsers You understood, I like the beta, maybe I'll switche frome FF to Chrome when it got a good plugin/extension system

I don't see extensions or any real customization in the future, nothing like what you have with Firefox.....trust me! The look will remain the same, I think at this point their prime objedtive is to kick some Microsoft ass!! (pardon my 'salty tongue'

ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Just looked at the Google Terms Of Service, and it turns out that that afore mentioned term is in fact universal for all of Google's services for those who have an account with them. Also if you check the TOS for Google, note: "9.4 Other than the limited license set forth in Section 11, Google acknowledges and agrees that it obtains no right, title or interest from you (or your licensors) under these Terms in or to any Content that you submit, post, transmit or display on, or through, the Services, including any intellectual property rights which subsist in that Content (whether those rights happen to be registered or not, and wherever in the world those rights may exist). Unless you have agreed otherwise in writing with Google, you agree that you are responsible for protecting and enforcing those rights and that Google has no obligation to do so on your behalf." "This licence is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services." (Part of 11.1, the term in question) Come on, the most they are going to do is use some picture someone uploaded to Picasa to stick on a banner for Picasa, they aren't going to turn around and start stealing artwork for themselves, they aren't that stupid, thankfully. So anyone with a google account, has already agreed to these exact terms. Chances are, most people have a google account. To make a quote: "Yeah, that's pretty standard legalese. It doesn't mean they're going to steal all the content on the internets."
cerium 1+1 = 42 Profil: Penguin Pro | @scorpioninblue : I trust in Google, in addition, like Chrome is Open Source, devs will can (?) make a plugin system as you can see on FF I agree with .Ghost., Google won't sell what you can up on the web So like said .Ghost.

You're right. I haven't. I didn't say that Chrome sucks, though. Chrome is an very good browser. Its very fast, but it lacks some very basic features (that will be added in later versions.) Anyway, I don't see any point in leaving Firefox - at least for now. I like the tab system of Chrome, but thats about it. Firefox has everything I need. The only real thing that makes Chrome better IMO, is that its very fast in executing code. But I don't really run heavy web-based applications, so I don't really need it. And, Firefox 3.1 will bring improvements in speed, anyway.. And yeah, I kinda trust in Google too. Its not really important to me, but say a worker of a company will hardly use Chrome if he views and shares confidential data with other people.
