After installing Bricopack Vista I worked with it and after some time 1 file and 1 folder were disappeared from explorer.
As I could not recover them I un-installed Bricopack but they are still not in explorer. I changed map option so hidden files will be displayed.
Can somebody give me some advice

What are the file and folder, and where were they located? ie in the "C:" drive, in your user folder?

What OS have you got? XP? And which SP? 1,2,3? This may not be a bricopack, it could be your os, I've come across vanishing files many times in my past experience with vista and xp.

They are located in my documents on C:, running XP SP2
On my desktop the is a link that brings me to a sub-folder from the disappeared folder so it is still there but not visable in explorer.

I installed the Vista Bricopack. I used it for a while, and noticed that a file and folder had dissapeared from the explorer window, and I could not see them.
I couldn't recover them, so I un-installed the bricopack, but the file and folder still did not appear in the explorer window. I changed the file options so that hidden files were shown, but I still could not see them.
Can anybody give me some advice?

They are in the My Documents folder of my C:\ drive. I am running XP SP2.
On the desktop there is link that will open a sub folder that is within the missing folder, so I know the folder still exists, I just cannot see it in the explorer window.

There's a rough translation Cradle

@RonT Go into the subfolder and press the up button (To take you to the parent folder) until you get into the folder that was missing. Check the path (address), and paste it here (Just for the heck of it) and then press the up button to get out of the missing folder, and tell us if you can see the hidden folder that you were just in.

That should work, it`s not a problem by the use of the bricopack

Did you search at the right place, maybe use windows-search with file/folder-name?
Maybe in the trash?

Thanks for the translation Ghost. :he:

But i still don't get it :paf: No i do but, there is no My Documents folder in C:/  It's in C:\Documents and Settings\%Username%\My Documents

And, Ghost's method should work, try it out

Otherwise, If you know what your folder's name is, just click on the 'Start' button, open up 'Search' and search for it  Just like Breakfastclub said earlier.

Search does not give any result.
The enclosed file screen.gif will give a beter view of the problem.
On the left the folder, on the right side no folder.
Hope this makes it more clear

No problem  He means the My Documents folder of his user, he said in C;\ because that's the drive it's on, and I said "ie in the "C:" drive, in your user folder?" and hence he said, the folder (My Documents) on the C drive :oups:

And I'm sure that picture will clear things up for you

I've got no idea... if it appears on the left as being there... but doesn't appear in the window... that's very odd...

I'm going to go google for a while, I'll report back if I find anything of interest.

You can try right clicking the folder in the side panel, and checking the properties, make sure that you have full priveleges, and that the folder isn't hidden.

EDIT: Also, the folders in your documents appear to be in alphabetical order, except for that one missing folder... did you put it at the end? Try ordering the items according to name, so they are in alphabetical order, and see if the hidden folder is moved (On the left pane)

Also you are sure Show Hidden Files is checked? I assume it is because I can your Temp folder, which is hidden by default, but best to be sure. Sometimes there can be problems where the "Show Hidden Files And Folders" doesn't work, or unchecks itself.

EDIT:

It just accured to me: If you can see them in the left hand side, they exist, so you should be able to right click on the folder on the left and then copy it, and paste it somewhere else. And then you should have a copy you can see, drag that into your My Documents (Or wherever the invisible one is) and hey presto you have a visible folder. Unless of course the copied folder is invisible, in which case we are back to step 1.

Or, try selecting all the folders, maybe there is no icon on your folder, and no name. ( If you tried to do something like that ) Otherwise, it's not normal xD Or, you're not looking in the right folder.

Leave me alone

@RonT If none of these work, the folder might be uber hidden... (Don't ask lol)

Have you tried hiding this folder? Like by doing the invisible icon and name trick, or by using ADS? (I love ADS  )

You could try selecting the parent folder (Mijn documenten) and hiding it, and choose to apply this to all sub folders. Then click APPLY and NOT OK. Then when it has finished, unhide it, and choose to apply to all sub folders. Then if the folder was hidden, and hidden from being hidden, it should be viewable now.

If you do press ok instead of apply you could end up with an invisible Mijn documenten folder that also can't be found.

There's nothing I can find from google, except what's already mentioned, or if some virus is hiding the folder, though it seems unlikely, as I'd expect a virus to do more than that, or choose a more dtrimental folder - not many people make viruses that are just slightly annoying.

All OS's are shifty  Other day I was using Ubuntu (Linux) and it wouldn't install something from the command line, (Though it did show the install process so it thought it did) but ti installed fine from the package manager.

And my friends teacher has a macbook pro, he woke up one morning with out any files anywhere in his laptop, drove him mad, he tried all sorts but nothing worked, so he was resigned to having to start from scratch (He didn't do backups), turned it on the next morning everything was back to normal

Forget who it's made by, it's made by people, anything made by people is bound to go wrong at some point

Back on topic...   I wonder if this problem is resolved? It's not been that long, I guess his computer might have had some fatal BSOD runtime error and never worked again... BSOD
