I applied the Leo (Vista) visual style using Windows Blinds, and after a short time my computer showed the lovely mac-ish style
However I noticed that my Desktop icons and files had all vanished.
I then removed the visual style and re-applied the Vista (Aero) one, standard, but the icons and files have failed to reappear.
They are in my Desktop folder (C:\Users\Chris\Desktop\
but they aren't on the desktop.
A reboot has failed to return them, and I have gone into ControlPanel/Appearance And Personalization/ and then clicked on the "Change Desktop Icons" option and removed the "user files" and "recycle bin" options, restarted, and then gone back to the option and checked user files and recycle bin but they have still failed to appear
Any idea? This isn't unbelievably important but it would be nice, since I had many shortcuts to applications on the desktop, as RocketDock was too annoying for the amount of dekstop space I used (It either would jump out at me as I chose a tool in photoshop, or i=I would have to minimize my windows just to get at it).
If anyone can help me get them back I would be unbelievably grateful!
I have tried:
Restarting, dragging them to the desktop, sending them to the desktop to create a shortcut (Wont appear on desktop but is created in desktop folder) and saving to the dektop (same) and I'm running out of ideas. Google so far has shown no help
EDIT:
I can't right click on my desktop either!!!
Or make a selection are on it, it's like it isn't there!!!
EDIT2: And when I choose a Desktop Background it can't see any of the image files on my computer!!!
I might try a system restore, though it is something I would like to avoid.
EDIT3: Fixed it!!!
I did another restart, but to no avail.
So I killed it (which felt good
) and then started it up again, and the problem seems to have gone
I seem to keep making support topics that are solved before or just as I get a reply...
Sorry
I'll restart at least 3 times in a row next time
Dunno why it didn't work the first time though, or the second
