Hey guys

I think I have a problem with my IP address...

My computer says I have the IP address ???.???.?.? but when I was saving my IP address in my database it looked different. Also on internet sites I seems to have ???.???.?.?... How is this possible?

Is it possible that there is a problem with the PHP syntax $_SERVER['REMOTE_ADDR']? Because I guess that will be used for those "Show my IP"-sites :frown:

If anyone has a solution, please reply!

That is the IP of your router, which gives each computer a specific IP (which is not your IP). When you look at your IP from your computer, you see the IP that the router gave you.

However, when you look the IP from the net, you see your real IP of your router (or internet connection).

OK thanks Legace

To be honest I already thought something like that but I didn't understand why Microsoft didn't call it Router IP address or something because everybody would then understand what it means...

Anyway: Thanks Legace!

I signed up for a forum recently that someone keeps threatening me about my IP even though I use a proxy everytime I log on there.
I have my own too, but for safety I set it to hide all to make sure everyone was safe, even from Hackers, the only time I see them is in the Admin CP.

Should I block him, or just ignore him.

With a proxy you should be save

Do you use any hardware/software-firewall ?

I would say ignore him

Yeah, I have a firefox add-on designed by a buddy of mine (Well, My Dad's) and it works whenever Norton is running in the background, else it will block all sites with Norton's filter.

Cradle, if router has good protection, you can do NOTHING with his computer.
My D-Link router has excellent firewall and it blocks remote connections, so I doubt you can do anything with my computer

Hacking is not that simple.
