| devpeck1 Profil: New Penguin | I really want to change the look of my desktop. I've been trying to find a place I can download free themes but everywhere I go it seems you have to pay fro a certain program. Someone told me about uxpatcher, so i downloaded it. But I have no idea how to use it or where to get themes. Can someone help me out please? (btw, i have XP) | |
poiru Profil: Moderator | You can either download Bricopacks:
Download Or then get the UxTheme multi patcher -> Run it and download themes from:
deviantart.com Then look at this -> link
devpeck1 Profil: New Penguin | I downloaded a theme from divantart. I put the folder in my theme folder and made sure everything was in the right place. But, I can't find the theme when I try to change it in my appearance properties.

sosoe222 Profil: Penguin Pro | Yeah, as he said, just double click the file. The file has .msstyles extension, no? [EDIT] You posted 31 second before me... I was still typing

In the folder there is the style file and a "shell" folder. there are separate folders in there with .dll files. thats it. when i double click it i just get sent back to the properties

8942th Profil: Penguin | i have another solution that doesn't want patchers and stuff... go to http//www.belchfire.net/ and find the themes u want, download the ones u like (beware that some themes are difficult to install, skip these) then download Auslogics Visual Styler. use it to install the theme, pretty easy to do, and no problems, no patchers, no rebooting required or anything. (Visual Styler is a 30 day trial,i'll give my serial if someone needs it) [EDIT] some have their own installer, but whatever, i never had problems installing SW from their site, through the installers or via the VS ... also VS it easy to use, u'll find out if u get it
bajt Profil: New Penguin | 8942th , but Auslogics Visual Styler , cant find Asher II theme from this forum ;\
8942th Profil: Penguin | aha... well, i just posted another solution that might prove useful if the uxpatcher thing doesn't work out anyways. I'm not an expert with patching, so i tried to help in other way [EDIT] OR it's because my XP are cracked, maybe they patched the uxtheme.dll before they packed them...
