Is there a way to make xp looking 100% as vista? the way they work, interfaces, aero glass themes, everything?! VTP 8.1 doesn't work. archives are all damaged, when installing, many applications cause errors without reason, and at halfway installing, it says unrecoverable error! right now i'm using Vista Inspirat 2.1.0, but that isn't a complete xp to vista transform! last days i've been working on a friend's pc with vista on, and i can't get my mind of on turning xp into vista, SAFELY! :boulay:

a full help is most welcome  :great:

(sorry if the topic is not in the right place, move it if necessary. Also sorry if this has already been asked, but i'm too laz to read every topic.)

There's only one way to make it completely vista. Buy a vista upgrade.
Oh and yes this topic is in the wrong section.

yep i did! i went to the links mentioned too. tring to make a thing out of this, ever browser i use shows differently this page, so it's kinda hard

and i mean an 100% vista looking XP, not the functionalities too.
Vista Inspirat for example doesn't make the start full like vista, or the theme isn't that aero glass like vista. is there a way to cover these up and anything else Inspirat doesn't transform?

Gah,

You didnt read it, did you?

Download Blaero start orb (for the start orb)
Download ViStart (for the start menu)
Download Styler, with a skin (for the explorer look of Vista)
Download True Transparancy 8.5 (for the transparent Bars)
Dowl.....well, I can go on forever, just read the freaking guide and stop asking when you know the answer is right in front of you,

I dont like your kind...

Legace, i don't know about others, but i have something to say about some of the stuff from the site, so this post ma also get edited and updated. one is for sure. a download is broken. i'll give u a review, waiteee!

first: DreamRender is broken, it says that on the installation

second: the VistaSidebar, i think it's a bit of heavy bugged. when setting the settings, the smallest change takes up all CPU usage and takes around 15 seconds to stop before u make even the smallest move on the cursors.

third:ViStart does not work. either files are missing, or it's broken and bugged at the same time. it dissapears, but the letters stay, the icon is behind the deskbar and cut in half, it's tottaly bugged!

fourth: TrueTransperacy is a bit of dead! changing colors, results in letter font bugs (symbols and squares instead of letters), although the theme is good, it's not the really vista theme like thing that the have. original can change colour with no problems, and they have something on the left side like XP, can't remember what. btw, the letter font needs working, it's a bit hard to read.

These are for now. expect the post to be edited or another one to come on, i may find more.
Ps. great guide, great work! keep it up, and check everything fully  :great:

* The DreamRender link works for me
* ViStart works
* Vista Sidebar is the best possible Vista Sidebar I know
* TT is still in beta. Make sure you have the Calibri and Segoe UI fonts..

ViStart takes a bit of time to open, though works normally now, i sa something that needs to be fixed with it...
i'll better keep off VistaSidebar
and about the fonts, i first installed them with the theme of vista (blackVG Ultimate) and then again with VI2
and again, great guide  :great:

You have to make it start with windows automatically. To do this, open ViStart -> click on the little button (the arrow) next to the shutdown/logoff buttons and select Options. Then tick the "start automatically with windows" box

-FYI- 1) You can stay up on the new versions of ViStart by going here-
http://lee-soft.com/

Hope this helps you out.

-FYI- 2) There is no way to make XP really look like Vista.
Vista uses a .PNG image format, while XP uses a .BMP image format.

The difference between a .BMP image & a .PNG. image
is a .PNG image holds transparency better than a .BMP image.

But a .BMP image uses less disk space & system resources.
-That is why the system requirements are so great for a Vista PC.

Programs Like TrueTransparency 0.8.5 replaces your window's borders (which are a .BMP image) with a .PNG image.

-FYI- 3) Now no disrespect to Legace's guide, it is one of the best out there and I use most of these programs- but if you notice when you go installing all of these programs and have them all running at once your system will slow down.  Why? Because for- 1 maybe your system is older.  2. These are all upfront running programs which use system resources.  Not embedded in the "clockworks" of your OS.  3. Most of the programs out there are still in beta form.

-FYI- 4) Why don't I jump on board with Vista?  In 2009 or 2010 Microsoft is planning to release Windows 7, supposedly it will be faster & better in some areas.  Why have a headache with Vista, when it's successor is just around the corner.

Hope this explains a lot for ya.

-Kaughn

-Edit: If your new to playing with the visual styles on your computer- this step will help you understand the work these guys go through to provide us with great visualstyles.
1. Open My computer ---> C:\\ ---> Windows ---> Resources ---> Themes.
2. Copy & Paste Inspirat2 folder to your desktop.
3. Open My computer ---> C:\\ ---> Windows ---> Briscopack--->Vista Inspirat 2 ---> ResHacker
4. click on ResHacker.exe  (icon with the hammer)
5. click & drag Inspirat2.msstyles into the white box in ResHacker
6. double click on the BMP folder in ResHacker.  These are the complete list of .BMP images that you see when you use windows.  (Taskbar, Startmenu, Borders, Scrollbars, ect.)
7. double click on the AEROBLACK_BALLOONCLOSE_BMP folder.
8. single click on 1033.  In the right pane you see the image by itself.
9. repeat steps 7 & 8 with the other folders in the list.
10. when done viewing just close ResHacker without saving & all folders you have open.
11. delete Inspirat2 off your desktop.

Hope this gives you a new appreciation of what the visual style creaters do for us.
-Kaughn

Pffft!
We waited 6 years for Vista, so I rather think they will release it in 2013 or so, no offense.

No offense taken,  but here is just the tip of the proof that windows plans to release win 7 in 2010.
