paeng Profil: New Penguin | I used IconTweaker in an XP machine to change the icons to a Vista theme. When I click on "My Documents" in the desktop the folder icons look like those from Vista. Also, the folders bar pane is closed by default. When I click on the Windows Explorer icon from Accessories, though, the folders bar pane is open by default (which I prefer) but the icons are not like those from the Vista theme. From what I gathered, the My Documents icon in the desktop uses Windows Explorer and can use the icons loaded by IconTweaker but can't use the /e parameter to open the folders bar pane automatically, while the Windows Explorer icon can use the /e parameter but I think uses icons from shell32.dll or something like that. Is there a way to make an icon that opens Windows Explorer with the folders bar pane open and uses Vista icons without having to patch the shell32.dll or other files? Or are there substitutes for Windows Explorer XP that leave the folder bar pane open but can also use Vista icons for the folders, etc? Thanks for the help.

paeng Profil: New Penguin | I found out that programs like X-Setup and WinGuides can do the double-pane tweak.

This fixed the problem ?
paeng Profil: New Penguin | I had Windows Explorer in Quicklaunch but when I open it the folder icons are those from XP. I dragged the My Documents icon to Qucklaunch and the folder icons are Vista-like but the folder pane is not opened automatically. I also tried changing the shortcut of the program to "[My Documents directory path]" /e but the folder pane won't appear. Finally, I run the double-pane tweak in X-setup and the folder pane in the My Documents icon in Quicklaunch appears automatically. However, the folder pane for the My Documents icon on the desktop does not.

szorn Profil: New Penguin | Hi,
I am new to this forum but hope you don't mind my question or my input.
The first is a question... I have tried several "Styler" programs such as StylerXP, Tune-Up Styler (Tune-Up Utilities), and Auslogics Visual Styler. StylerXP seemed to take up too much resources so I moved on to Tune-Up Styler. It is full featured but seemed to crash on me almost every time I used it. Next I tried Auslogic Visual Styler which is very similar to Tune-Up minus a few features. Which brings me to my problem / question. When I changed icons with Tune-Up Styler the icons would revert back to the default icons periodically. Then I noticed that Tune-Up Styler had a feature that would allow you to "force" the icon change and I didn't have the problem any longer. Unfortunately, Tune-Up Styler kept crashing so much on my computer I had to uninstall it. Now I use Auslogics but it doesn't have the "force change" feature and my icons, specifically my folder icons keep changing back to the default. Does anyone know of another software that has the "force change" feature like this. Or does anyone have a solution for this problem? I have searched the threads and there is mention of TweakUI in similar threads but I have tried a similar function in my Axilias IconWorskhop software that has no effect so I am reluctant to try TweakUI.
Just some input...Someone on the thread said they would like to use PNg files for their icons. There is a software that allows PNGs to be used as icons, it's Microangelo OnDisplay. I have used it to change some of my icons using PNGs without any problem. I hope it's Ok to post that here. I don't have anything to do with these software s mentioned, just my experience trying them out.
Hopefully someone can help with my question above? Thanks!

On Vista/7, when you hover over an icon, there is a blue transparent box that appears around the icon.. I think that's what he means Message edited by legace on 08-26-2009 at 03:01:07 PM ---------------
