Hi all
 
I have now had the SHI*EST Computer for 3 years.........
 
and my parents are dow delaying my MBP to end of september when snow leopard comes out                      
 
so im stuck with a PC that takes the Piss i mean come on Blue screen whilst booting... i bet legace has never enen dreampt of that and BSCOD whilst idle and even crashing in  the Bios startup!!!!!!!!!        
 
apaerently its a driver problem ... but i doubt it i think the motherboard is faulty .
 
can someone please help or donate to me money (for a good cause, MBP) otherwise i may go mad and have random posting outbursts   and die ..... (or get banned ... that is worse )
of pain    
 
any ideas...

If you write down the error the BSOD generates, we might be able to help.

Erm...  i know this sounds lame but it goes away in a flash...

no offense but you can always use a mature way of posting replies...

regarding your problem, I think it's because of RAM.I had the same problem on my XP , a friend of mine suggested me to remove the RAM and rub it's lower part with eraser (yeah, sounds bit weird) to remove carbon/dust ,I did that and got rid of the problem.

I hope that will work for you too

but the rubber part is the only difference... ive tryed using 3 differnet sets of ram

Remove all non-vital components (PCI cards, CD/DVD, etc.) and see if the problem persists. If you have more than one RAM module installed, remove all but one.
If the problems goes away, connect components one by one, until you find the component that is causing the problem
 
And are you sure it's not Windows? You might want to try to install something like Ubuntu..

erm.. i tryed ubuntu 3 times but the install went ok but when i boot i just get pixels and fuzz... then it turns off
 
and besides can u use the CS4 master suite on ubuntu?

Most common fact is, like everyone says, RAM. Best thing about RAMs: lifetime warranty.
 
Of course, it can also be Windows or a corrupt boot sector or something on your drive. Rarely is it something else ...

I was going to say what legace said. It's even recommended to place in each component one by one, turn on the computer, add a new one, turn it on again, etc when you're building one.
 
I would also think that you could run hardware tests, but since it isn't a mac you can't do the Apple Hardware Test on boot, or use a program like TechTool so you'll have to find one yourself.

There are hardware tests for PCs too ... That's how I've checked my RAM and HDD in the past ... and other parts as well. You just have to look for 'em, and most of them require a floppy drive, though they should work with CD- and DVD-ROMs as well.

If you have a bootable CD of some OS, or a bootable flash drive with linux,
try booting with that, if it works, you need not open the box, but to wipe out the windows.

Or, you could make a complete backup of your system (Norton Ghost is a great tool), and then reinstall windows.
