When I turned on my computer today and went to open up rocketdock, it said unable to find rocketdock.exe so I went to the folder and it mysteriously disappeared. So then I'm like ok, I'll temporarily use xWindows dock. I go to the xWindows dock folder using fidexer and i see Xwindowsdock.exe there for a second, and then it just disappeared. I don't why this happened but it only seemed to happen with my docks.

Does anyone know how or why this happened?

EDIT: ok it's getin weirder, all my application exes are disappearing including rainmeter and nhl. I can't access task manager

Msn and firefox seem to be working ok which are internet related applications

I think I found the problem. When I went to add/remove programs, it said Windows can't find C:\WiINDOWS\system32\rundll32.exe

EDIT2: I'm on a different computer now but things have got a lot worse. I restarted my computer and for some  reason it went to the log in screen which it never does. Also, it was the classic log in screen and when I pressed enter because I have no password, it started logging in then just logged off. It also did this in safe mode and I don't know what to do!!

I recently installed desktopX and Talisman which I also uninstalled yesterday. After the first restart after uninstallation did the rundll32.exe error come.

So is there any way I can download rundll32.exe, put it on my usb stick, and then somehow import it into C:\windows\system32 or can I somehow revert back to another days configuration like yesterdays.

I think that you must rename the title of your topic

It's not a rundll error, it's probably a virus. :p

That's what you get for downloading cheap porn. Nah, I'm just kidding.

But seriously, that's why you can't access Task Manager. The virus probably disabled it so that you can't use it to shut down the virus process.

And that's probably why you CAN use messengers, so that it can spread to your contacts.

Get your computer formatted, you'll have to re-install everything. And don't forget to get a good anti-virus this time. ;)

that surely is a malware.

use process explorer instead of task manager. It does not gets blocked
and can strictly terminate threads.

True, but how can he find the thread? It's easy enough for us to find, but not everyone spends their time on their computer. ;)

In most cases, the exe is not verified by process explorer.

also,it is a good habit to watch processes in task manager regularly.
soon you will get a good overview and you can easily locate
new/unknown processes.

- Start the PC in safemode, press F8 during bootprocess

- install this freeware-scanner (or any other virusscanner): http://vil.nai.com/VIL/stinger/

- install "Lavasoft Adaware" and "Spybot Search & Destroy" (freeware), scann your c: disc

If nothing works, try a repair-install of XP (you need the windows-disc): http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp [...] oug92.mspx

Download and run MBAM: (don't forget to update definitions ;))
http://malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

It's a great program. The scan (for me, atleast) is very fast and it has found many stuff my antivirus has missed.
