Running latest Vista Inspirat on WinXP SP3.

I've changed the name of "My Documents, My Pictures, My Music and My Video" to Elmers Documents etc.. ( No-one can accuse me of being imaginative !!;). and I've noticed that alongside "Elmers (My) Documents" in my profile account a  folder called "My Documents" containing "My Pictures" keeps appearing.    I expect these to come as a pair as they are both linked to the mydocs.dll, but in reality I wouldn't expect them to appear at all as they already exist.

I keep deleting them but sooner or later they re-appear which can be confusing when I save piccies to I know not which folder !

A bit of investigating was required, I ran Advanced System Reg cleaner, then took an "image" of the registry using RegShot, deleted the My Docs folder, took another image and compared the two.

There where three Registry changes noted :~

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG*\Seed    "Revenger ? (Maker of CMenu Extender)

HKU\S-1-5-21-1292428093-920026266-725345543-1004\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ShellNoRoam\BagMRU\1\\MRUListEx  (Who knows ??)

HKU\S-1-5-21-1292428093-920026266-725345543-1004\Software\Revenger inc.\CMenuExtender\SFileName

I've deleted the folder(s) again and also the three above registry entries, everything going ok again and then...

Back came the extra "My Documents" !! Aaaargh !!
This may have been happening before, I don't know, but I do know it's really really REALLY miffing me off !

Anyone any ideas ??

Apart from this niggle, absolutely no problems with this BricoPack. I Lurve It.

I don't know if this is the same but, there was a thing on all xp computers, that if you deleted, renamed, or moved My Documents, or other "My" folders they would often be remade by xp. This is sometimes because it expects them to be there and remakes them, and also because any part of xp that would for any reason be looking for My Documents and doesn't find it will remake it.

It is basically xp being determined that you must have a "My Documents". Not the actual folder perhaps, just a folder that it is told to see as the "My Documents", but it expects there to be a "My Documents" folder somewhere, or a folder that it see's as "My Documents".

I had this problem many times with my old xp computer and I simply gave up. There is probably a very simple way of making xp see another folder as My Documents, perhaps as Legace has shown above should probably fix it. xp (And probably like all Micorosoft OS' (It happens with my 98 laptop after reboots it remakes the folder)) just needs something for it to treat as the My Documents, and other My folders.

Thx both for your answers.  Yeah, I understand M$ giving you full control as long as you do as they say !!
As I said I'm not sure if this was happening before as I was having far too much fun for a fella of my age ripping apart the system32 with ResHacker and Microangelo, changing icons and stuff, to notice if it was happening then.

B.T.W. I've always loaded this pack normally, i.e. not in safe mode and not had (or noticed) a problem.

More advice please
On the post preceding my two (purpletooth), I see you're recommending to not only install the pack in safe mode but also to de-select Movie Maker. Is this the norm as this is the first "time(s)" I have actually left that in.

P.S. Yeah, I know about the TweakUI but don't have a problem moving by hand

I've also installed the pack in normal mode, and never encoutered a problem. It is reccomended to install in safemode, though. (lower risk of having problems)

Movie Maker will not function properly if its selected..

I removed it with XPlite ages ago !!

Dunno why I've left it in now (yes I do, wanted the .dll file)

I finally got this issue sorted out. Well, by-passed really.

After hours of browsing for an answer and numerous attempts at trying to stop the spare "My Documents" from appearing I have a solution !

Set the folder to hidden and then set don't show hidden !!

Bit miffed I couldn't stop the bl**dy thing though !!
