| Skyline969 Profil: New Penguin | Well, I'm really interested in installing the Vista Inspirat Bricopack on my computer. It's WinXP Home Edition, SP2. I don't plan on updating it to SP3 (Anyone know how to disable Windows Update from updating my SP in Windows Update?). Anyways, I'm wondering if my computer would be able to handle this Bricopack without problems. The specs are as follows (rough estimations): 600e MHZ processor (Pentium 3) 256 MB RAM 8 or so MB Video Memory If you need more information, don't hesitate to ask. I know it's a fossil of a computer, but it runs XP like a champ. Much better than 2000. Yes, I plan on installing the Bricopack as Administrator (don't know about safe mode, why would you need to be in there to install it anyways?) and I will create a Restore Point before I install. I have a WinXP CD so I can go back to a restore point if things go horribly wrong. Still, I don't want to use System Restore; I want things to work properly the first time. Anyone know if I will run into any complications whatsoever? I'm an advanced user, so running some complicated checks/solutions by me is not a problem on my part. Thanks, DJ Shinji | |
CustMax Profil: Penguin Pro | Hi ! Look if your computer is a X64, because BricoPacks don't run on them And your configuration is too slow to install all the BP (for BricoPack) so at the install, you must not intall the Extras parts > the optional softwares. Because they will use a bit more RAM. And I think (but not sure) that the BricoPack create a restore point before the installation. And if you will have a problem (computer made us so many surprises ) we will be there
cradłe Cradle-desktop@ubuntu:~$ whatis windows Profil: Penguin Pro | Hey there, And Welcome to CrystalXP.net ! Okay now, First of all, i don't think that windows will update your system to SP3 , you should do that yourself, anyways, if you want to deactivate Your windows updates, just go to: Start Control Panel Automatic Updates, And just choose the last option that says " Turn Of Automatic Updates. " Next, for your comuter, i think that you can install the bricopack without any problems, but i don't advice you to install it .. Because i don't think that Your 600 MHz - 256 RAM Computer would handle the bricopack .. It will lag a lot ! But anyways, you can test it if you want Remember to install it in safe mode. Hope i helped you. Sincerely, [C]radle.eXe
Skyline969 Profil: New Penguin | Worry not, my computer is a 32-bit OS. I wouldn't install many of the extras anyways, because all I want is the windows and the start menu basically. Oh, and the icons. I just want a general Vista look. I don't need any of that docking stuff or anything. For widgets, I can just use Yahoo Widget Engine if I desperately need some widgets. Seriously doubt I will need them though. As for RAM, I know it's a little on the low side, but I have a bulked-up pagefile to compensate. I always keep my computer in tip-top shape using registry cleaners and disk defragmenters frequently so I can keep the performance at the fastest possible. As for completely disabling Windows Update, I don't want to do that. I want to just make sure it doesn't automatically update me to SP3. I want all other updates like the malicious software removal tools and all the hotfixes for various programs. As for installing in safe mode, why do I need to do that? What are the consequences if I don't install it in safe mode? EDIT: I installed it without entering safe mode. Everything seems to work properly. This is absolutely amazing! I was completely unaware that Windows XP was capable of looking like this! Should any problems arise, I will come to the forums for help. Thanks to everyone who helped me!
