| berlinde Profil: New Penguin | like everyone else i didn't think ahead and my sp3 installation corrupted my bricopack. the uninstaller and updater were gone and wouldn't let me uninstall. i tried everything (even deleting that pesky bricopacklock.lock) and i still get the "there is another bricopack installed. would you like to remove it now?" error, and even if i click 'yes' to remove it, it does nothing. i deleted everything i could find on my computer related to the bricopack and still nothing. can anyone help me? thanks in advance. | |

Try deleting the folder:
C:\Windows\BricoPacks and these files if they are also in the C:\Windows folder:
- BricoPackFolderDelete.cmd - BricoPackLock.lock - BricopackUninst.cmd - BricoPackUninst.txt
|
Install all window-updates before you install the bricopack !

berlinde Profil: New Penguin | hello, breakfastclub thank you for taking some time to help me. those files and that folder are long gone, the one i can't get rid of is that bricopacklock.lock that i'm guessing is created by the installer of the pack when it detects something, it's that something i can't figure out what it is. computer is also up to date as far as windows updates go. once again, thanks for your help

What do you mean ? You can`t delete the file ? Try UNLOCKER
berlinde Profil: New Penguin | not, not like that. i can delete it, but as soon as i try to install the bricopack and get that error, a new bricopacklock.lock is created.

But this error shows only up if it looks like there`s a Bricopack installed, make sure that you realy delete the files/folders above

Can you see hidden files ? Quote :
To enable the viewing of Hidden files follow these steps: 1. Close all programs so that you are at your desktop. 2. Double-click on the My Computer icon. 3. Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options. 4. After the new window appears select the View tab. 5. Put a checkmark in the checkbox labeled Display the contents of system folders. 6. Under the Hidden files and folders section select the radio button labeled Show hidden files and folders. 7. Remove the checkmark from the checkbox labeled Hide protected operating system files. 9. Press the Apply button and then the OK button and shutdown My Computer. 10. Now your computer is configured to show all hidden files.

Breakfastclub Profil: Penguin Pro | Did you try to install it in safemode (press F8) - delete bricopacklock.lock before ?

I agree ... Make a complete harddisc-copy when your system is fresh installed (with all drivers, mails, messengers, programs you need). I use Norton Ghost, lots of others do the same, a 1:1 copy of the fresh system that you can reset to this point whenever you want - when I start now in 2 minutes I got a fresh XP Google for "Mirror Hard drive including XP"
flexokisino Profil: New Penguin | Hi everyone, I am also having a problem with unistalling the 'bricopack' or 'pack'.. these are crystal xp or Longhorn themes. My problem is exactly same to berlinde's first problem .. "uninstaller and updater were gone and wouldn't let me uninstall. i tried everything (even deleting that pesky bricopacklock.lock) and i still get the "there is another bricopack installed. would you like to remove it now?" error, and even if i click 'yes' to remove it, it does nothing. i deleted everything i could find on my computer related to the bricopack and still nothing. can anyone help me? thanks in advance." as Breakfastclub's suggestion I tried to find those filse: and these files if they are also in the C:\Windows folder: - BricoPackFolderDelete.cmd - BricoPackLock.lock - BricopackUninst.cmd - BricoPackUninst.txt but couldn't get them!... I tried to install some other themes as well but I couldn't install them it says .. another shell is already installed. I need to get the orginial windows xp theme.. what to do ? Please let me know.. Thanks in advance..
