Hi, I have this problem for almost more than month now, that my pc in which XP pro SP2 is installed freezes and in task manager CPU Usage became zero sometimes Page File Usage history also became zero.  
My system config. is
Processor    AMD Athlon™ XP 2400+ 2.00 GHz
Ram           752 MB

In beginning When this problem occurred for sometime. i have format the root drive and re-install win XP SP2.

Problem was not solved by installing the windows. At starting of this issue if PC is not shutdown for the longer time I found it frozen. But now system is frozen very quickly even I am working over it.

When this happens mostly cursor and/or keyboard kept working for the while but taskbar and opened programs stop responding at once. When i press Ctrl+Alt+Del, task-manger also mostly appeared and I can observe that CPU Usage became zero sometimes Page File Usage history also became zero.

only option that i had left at that time is reset button and system again starts normally.

Hi Mudassar007, I mean the temperature of the processor.

AMD need much more cooling then Intel. Anyway, frozen PC is always a hardware-problem.

there are two types of hang, one is software/OS and another is hardware,
if your system hangs mouse curser not moving but caps and num lock is working then the hang must be due to software or OS. scan the system for virus infection, delete temp files, empty prefetch, remove newly install software or driver, still system hangs then format and reinstall OS.
and if your system hangs and caps and num lock keys are also hangs then it must be hardware issue,
check cpu temperature is the processor overheating, if its normal then check SMPS, is powersupply is ok or not, if it is also ok, then check for motherboard.
