Hi,

Well i uninstalled the inspirat pack and i noticed that the icons for calculator and movie maker are still vista type, the log on and log off screens are the vista type, the box when you shut down your computer with the three options of log off, shut down, and restart, and the last thing is all the icons and animations for control panel my computer all the windows in XP pretty much still have the vista look. Does anyone know how to revert these to the original windows xp state? If so, where can i get those files to replace the modified ones? The text also is the same.

Thanks

To change the icons, download TweakUI (from Microsoft, right side), install it and at the bottom you have the option "REPAIR", chose repair icons (reboot) ...

Did you uninstalled the Bricopack in safemode (F8) ?
Install and uninstall in Safemode is the best what you can do ...

I have a smiliar problem. First I tried more times Vista Transformation Pack, all versions, but lot of uninstalls because is also transform memory usage to Vista's... At every uninstall (not needed safe mode), I get back the real XP appearance. But at I first time uninstalled Vista Inspirat 2 bricopack, icons is still Vista-like. I tried TweakUI's repair icons, restart, but icons still Vista-like (shell32.dll icons and tray icons). I've cryed a little, then I'm going to search Vista Inspirat 1 bricopack, is very nice (but Vista Inspirat 2 more real), used it for some time, but the volume control icon is very ugly. I hate the Vista Inspirat 1's volume control icon. I've uninstalled it, icons now still on Vista Inspirat 1's. Then I tryed CrystalXP&Crystal Clear. A minor problem: at lot of bricopack-(un)installs, Internet Explorer 7 reverted to IE6. I've fastly started Firefox and downloaded IE7. Installed. Restart, OK. Now I use Vista Inspirat 2 for second time, but I have a question. (Because at uninstall else is revert all to Crystal Clear! Not reinstall Crystal Clear bricopack, but revert system files to Crystal Clear's. I tried.) I've a hungarian Home XP. This is the bricopacked system. And I have an XP Professional system on other computer with original system files. And the latest updates. It's safe to copy these files to my Home Editon? Original shell32.dll is in other drive here, I use this instead of Professional's, but it safe to use Professional XP system files except shell32.dll? Professional XP is also hungarian. At I looked to I386 folder to a moement with ResHacker & Vista Inspirat 2 bricopack installed, shell32.dll is still Vista-like. At later I try to look other files. If at I386 folder the other files is XP-like, there is no problem. But try to help! Sorry for my bad english! Please help fastly! Thanks! - Móricka (CrystalLive Nyuszika) FIX: not on other drive but on other partition. And the file is works.

Hi Móricka !

You want to copy the original XP-Files to the computer with the Bricopack-Files (after you uninstalled it) ?

Maybe it works when the file-version-number is the same - but I don`t would try it

Try a repair-install of XP - this will only overwrite your systemfiles (shell32.dll too) and you need no format c:

When the most importand thing is the shell32.dll then simply wait until MS-Update change the shell32.dll, they do it very often
In the forum we have a tutorial howto change your icons untill the update change it ...

Xpize is an XP-Shellpack, it changes the icons to high-quality XP-icons, maybe use this ? But it`s not out work, we doN´t support it, but I know it works great.

Just a tip, when you ever do a format c: in the future, install all your apps, email-accounts and all what you need - then mirrow/image your full HD with Norton Ghost or Trueimage (or lots of other tools). This allows you to replace your system to exactly this point. When I wanna replace a fresh format c: here, with all drivers and programs, it need only 4 minutes to reboot a 100% fresh system ...

Why don't you just go to your friends house with the same language XP as yours, copy all the files you need and replace them in your own PC?

Thanks! If needed, I have to try it. Or query on an other forum? ? But now I very love XPize and need LordPE because Crystal Clear is partially on my system (but I uninstalled it), and a problem with user32.dll and shell32.dll. The joke in Windows's error message: SHELL32.DLL is also a dll-file, not only USER32.DLL and some other dll-files...

I suggest you go to a friends house and get the user32.dll and shell32.dll files. It's the easiest that way

Can you make a screenshot ? Did you ever deleted the iconcache ?

Quote :

1.) Just refresh the icon cache by deleting the IconCache.db file from your profile directory (usually C:/Documents and Settings/Username/Local Settings/Application Data). It will be automatically recreated.

OR

2.) Download TweakUI (from Microsoft, right side), install it and start it - at the bottom you have the option "REPAIR", chose repair icons (reboot) ...

I agree with Legace, if you need the files, go to your friend ...

(even when your story about install and uninstall so much Shellpacks is very strange, lots of problems, I would say do a format C: next months/weeks - and do a backup - Image/mirror your HD).

It's not needed at all, it seems to all files OK, original-XP at i386 folder. (Why XP not replaces automatically modded system files with these files?) Only needed a XPize uninstall, then a medium-hardly file-replacement with my friend the Professional XP. At this time Replacer not helps because it backups MODDED system file to i386 and if is proceed, sometimes Windows like to replace it with files at i386 folder. I do not use any software for do this. My Friend the XP Professional helps to copy files to Home XP. Or if file version and a much more other, I only replace the modded icons, bitmaps, etc. with the XP Professional's original. There is no problem. Only one question remaining (LordPE is not need because XPize 4.0 that I use now is able to replace files, but some files still Vista- or Crystal Clear-like.): I have copyed an file for example (explorer.exe) from i386 folder to C:\TEMP. Is named explorer.ex_. When I rename it to explorer.exe, Windows says there is no icon in file. No problem, cmd and expand. But I need to compress a file to it. Simple rename is simple rename, not compact files like in i386 folder. Help!

Your system seems to be pure chaos after all the install/uninstall/broken install/broken uninstall  :oui:

My best wishes that you fix it, if not, read my tipp with format c: and backup your full HD - then you will never again have so much problems ...
