Hi there,

I must first say that thank you for developing and sharing the Bricopack Vista Inspirat Ultimate 2. I've installed the program without any problems on my computer, but when I recommended my friend to install it he says that the installation stalled halfway. He told me that the installation stopped when the program says that it is installing the file "wuaucpl.cpl". He tried to leave the installation process as it is but after checking back after some time the installation was still stuck.

As far as I know the "wuaucpl.cpl" is a Control Panel Extension. I've asked him to check what have been installed and here are the files and folders in his C:\WINDOWS\Bricopacks\Vista Inspirat 2\
- Icons
- Packfiles
- Resfiles
- Reshacker
- Tempfiles
- Tools
- Uninstfiles
- pack-it.exe
- Panel.exe
- Update.exe

And by comparing it with my working version, he seems to be missing:  :ouch:
- Help
- iColor Folder
- Rocket Dock
- TransBar
- UberIcon
- Wallpapers
- YzShadow
- Internet shortcut to Bricomix.net
- Remove.exe - he can't uninstall the program and when he tries to manually delete the files Windows tell him that the files are in use.

The icons in his computer has changed to those supplied along with the programme, and his login screen has changed to the Vista version as well. It's only that the other components that are missing. He told me that his Windows XP layout is still intact.

As far as I know he is running on Windows XP Media Centre Edition, with 1GB RAM. I have yet to get any more details on his computer specs.

Is there anyway for him to make a complete installation (so that he can make the program useable) or for him to make a clean uninstallation of all the files that have been installed? Thank you a lot in advance!  :loveit:

Hi Teddyrised, welcome to CrystalXP

Boot into safemode, uninstall the bricopack: Start - bricopack - uninstall

Quote :

Boot into Safe Mode with these instructions.

   * If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power
    * Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
    * Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
    * Ensure that the Safe mode option is selected.
    * Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.

After uninstall boot again in safemode and install the bricopack in safemode ...

I hope this works

@Breakfastclub: thanks for the quicky reply! I'm eternally grateful :loveit: I'm just curious - my friend told me that his Remove.exe is missing, so most probably he won't be able to uninstall it by clicking on the start menu link (since it links to Remove.exe). Is it possible if he tries to run the installation in safe mode (so as to overwrite whatever that have been installed before)? Thanks!

I would try to uninstall it in safemode and see what happens  :happy2:

When his systemfiles are still XP, he can simply try to install the Bricopack. Maybe bricopack gives an error-message that there`s still a bricopack installed, then uninstall it.

So, try to uninstall it, if it don`t work install it (in safemode).

Next time before install a bricopack do a system-restore-point, if something crash yopu can simply roll back
