| daanbrg Profil: New Penguin | Hi guys, Yesterday, I installed the BricoPack 'Vista Inspirat 2'. Today I wanted to create a little video with Windows Movie Maker, the program I'm always using to make my video's. It started, but then, an error came up: CODEThe file with transitions and video effects is missing. So, I just shut down the computer (maybe it will be away when I boot my pc tomorrow) and go to bed. The next day, I booted up, and again the same message... Can somebody help me?? Daan. | |
Nagaya Profil: Penguin Pro | this is very strange, i never had any problems with my movie maker after installing brico packs. are you sure this is something to do with bricopacks?

Yes it is due to the brico-pack Vista Inspirat 2, dlb says it. The solution is to reinstall Movie Maker

Thanks for the reply Custmax. But I never knew this thing. I just checked my movie maker and it works fine and I have bricopack installed. May be it depends on system to system.

Gruzz Profil: Moderator | That's right. The same thing can happen to Windows Media Player and Internet Explorer. Looks like there's a flaw in the Microsoft software.

1111Eres Profil: New Penguin | I confirm, the problem is due to bricopack, also I have the same problem and the same error message, uninstallig bricopack the bug disappears and it reappears when you reinstall bricopack. Some time ago I had also signalled it in this forum. Rather as you have done to copy the original file of MM?

Semi-Solution found- If you dont mind un-installing Bricopack, then installing it again, during setup, choose the last installation option, then uncheck Windows Media Player. After the installation, WMM will work. The only downside is that the icon for WMM will be the winXP version, but if your ok with that, this is the easy way out with no hacking!! LC
teachernz Profil: New Penguin | Hi everybody. A bit of a long winded post coming. I installed Vista Inspirat 2 a few weeks ago and had the same error, managed to fix it with a lot of messing around and forum browsing. Yesterday I had to do a clean install of winxp and then I reinstalled Vista inpirat. Remembering the problems I'd had I renamed the moviemaker.exe to moviemaker.bak and then installed the bricopack. I ran moviemaker and sure enough the transitions and effects were missing. My plan was to delete the new moviemaker file (incidentally a different size to the original) with my .bak file. I deleted the .exe file and was about to rename.bak when the exe file "respawned" before my eyes. I don't know if it took its info from the bricopa ck version of moviemaker.exe or my .bak file, but it works perfectly all transitions and effects are back to normal. Hope this helps someone.
Didas le soleil se lève avant moi, je me couche après lu Profil: God of Penguins | that's a great thing thanks for posting this Could you create a topic with your whole explanation (with pictures, colors and explicit texts) sothat I'll pin it?

Ok. Give me a few days, I've never done this before.

teachernz Profil: New Penguin | Sorry for the delay. I've been making a tutorial for this, but my son just came across the same problem. He's applied a BricoPack and, sure enough, moviemaker says his transitions and effects are missing. On a whim I told him to delete the moviemaker exe and wait to see if it "respawned". It did a few seconds later and now everything is back to normal in moviemaker. Weird! Could someone else try this just to make sure it works for everybody? Copy the original exe file to another location first just in case it doesn't. If it works I'll do a tutorial for this simple fix if you like.
cashtime07 Profil: New Penguin | Hi all! I've just joined CrystalXP, and I've also had the same Movie Maker problem after install of BricoPack Vista Inspirat 2, but reading the posts I discovered the solution (well, on my system anyway! . So it seems the solution is: firstly download MovieMaker2 from Download.com Then open the C:\Program Files folder, open the Movie Maker folder, highlight all files and folders, and delete them. After a few seconds, Windows will replace the .exe and the .dlls in the folder. Next run the downloaded Movie Maker installer program, and MM should work fine again!
Asteroid-Man Profil: New Penguin | I had that problem too (missing effects and transitions) how did you fix it?

Well Okay i came across the same problem like the other guy was saying you have to open my computer then YOUR HARD DRIVE mines d or something its the local disk then you go to program files and look for movie maker open it there will be two shortcut get rid of (delete) the vista like one KEEP THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE A FILM REEL THATS THE RIGHT ONE!!! then your problem will be solved no file is missing problems
| |
Neil Chances are not had but gained....... Profil: Penguin Pro | travisgold, deleting the shortcuts won't solve the problem You've to replace the moviemk.exe from C:>( or Your System Drive)>Program Files>Movie Maker with the original moviemk.exe from C:>(or your System Drive)>WINDOWS>BricoPacks>SysFiles Message edited by Neil on 01-05-2009 at 05:01:41 PM
