| hasanzaib Profil: New Penguin | hi i need help removing the brico pack i got it when i downloaded the crystal dlb-2 because it looked good but i don't want it anymore. I don't have enough space and my computer is slow i have switched the theme to windows classic but they are still saved even after i clicked uninstall from the start menu folder. also i want the windows xp folders & icons back not the brico pack ones, how do i do that? thanks for all help in advance hasan | |
Breakfastclub Profil: Penguin Pro | Hi Hasanz, usualy Bricopack don`t slow down your system, they need the same ressources as windows-default-files ... Do you have UNINSTALLED the Bricopack ? You need to clear the iconcache: Download TweakUI (from Microsoft, right side), install it and run it - at the bottom you have the option "REPAIR", chose repair icons (reboot) ...

Sounds like the Bricopack is not uninstalled - how do you uninstall it ? Uninstall it using the uninstaller: start menu --> Programs --> BricoPacks --> Uninstall or by Add/Remove Programs? (you can uninstall it in Safemode too (hit F8 during boot))
hasanzaib Profil: New Penguin | hi again as i stated in my first post it was uninstalled from the start menu. i.e.: start menu --> Programs --> BricoPacks --> Uninstall i have checked the add/remove programs in control panel, its not in the list the bricopack folder is still in c:\windows\bricopacks how should i delete it from safemode (i know how to login in safe mode but wat do i do once there?) do i just delete this folder or what?

Please check your filesize (in MB) for the shell32.dll in \windows\system32\ressorces\ When you realy removed the shellpack this should be worked: TweakUI, repair iconcache When you realy uninstall the Bricopack you can simply delete the folder: c:\windows\bricopacks

\windows\system32\ressorces\ does not exist so instead i went to C:\WINDOWS\Resources\ there is only one folder in there called "Themes" in themes: crystal clear folder- 10.3MB (Shell folder & crystal clear.msstyles) crystal dlb2 folder - 7.54MB (Shell & crystal dlb 2.msstyles) i think i have to do somethings with these maybe? -- also couldn't find the shell32.dll so i did a search on it (see attachment) so, erm... wat do i do next???

My fault, I must been busy, I meant \windows\system32\shell32.dll You can delete all shell.32.dll-files/folders with the name "$NTuninstall" and "$hf_mig$" - these are backups from old updates ... What I see is C:\windows\bricopacks\sysfiles has the backup from your system before the bricopack, it`s 8 MB, this is the original-files. You are using now a shell32.dll with 16 MB, thats must be the pimped one (Bricopack) - so after all you`re don`t uninstalled the Bricopack and all my tips can`t work ... Do you have a system-restore-point before the bricopack ? You know how to replace, best with startdisc in DOS, to replace the 8 MB shell32.dll against the 16 MB shellpack (because Windows fileprotection) ? Something goes completly wrong at your end - usualy all this is not necessary ...

dgh_92_9 Profil: Penguin | just go to my pc> hard drive c> program files> search for the bricopack file and delete it
hasanzaib Profil: New Penguin | ok... i really havent understood wat u said there... but i have no restore point before brico packs because it was ages ago wen i first got it, also i have made many other changes since then that i dont want to undo and when u said startdisc did u mean the windows xp disc? because i havent got that i bought the computer off somebody else & xp was already on ------ edit- vista crystal i will try your idea now

Do you do install all windows-updates ? Maybe the update change the shell32.dll, Microsoft often do that ...
konekosaru Profil: New Penguin | I am trying to uninstall BricoPacks. The files themselves are deleted, but it is still on my computer even though it doesn't show in 'Add/Remove Programs'. Can anyone please tell me how I completely uninstall this? Is there some sort of sweeper program I can get that will clean out the last few traces of it? Thanks!

the files itself were missing. but the link was still there. i found the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Packs\SysFiles" which i think contained the old files that the pack made a backup.
