| wastedyuthe Profil: New Penguin | I have installed the Crystal XP Bricopack and have been a content user for some time. However, today I updated Windows with security updates (Auto update), and found it had reset some of the Crstal XP icons for folders, so I decided to update the Brockopack from the start menu. However, I then found IE7 totally messed up, as you can see below... This looks nothing like IE7 normally looks- the buttons are different, the menu (file, edit etc) is back, and the search bar is gone- rather like IE6. I seem to remember having this problem before, and can't remember how to fix it. Can someone guide me with what to do, and is there a way for the brickopack update to NOT mess IE7 up? Thanks in advance. | |

Hi Wastedyuthe ! Does the bricopack-update work (foldericons) ? Your picture realy looks like IE6, go on "help" and "about IE" - maybe you see a version-number Maybe your YzToolbar runs on startup ? Install Internet Explorer 7 again ...

wastedyuthe Profil: New Penguin | Problem solved. I restored back to after I had the system update, back to when the folders were turning yellow again, and decided to try something else. I made a copy of the iexplore.exe file in the IE folder before running the bricopack update. After running the update, the folders are back to their lovely blue style, and I had the same horrible IE6 look again, so I just restored the backed-up iexplore.exe to it's original folder and hey presto- it worked! This meant I didn't need to re-install ie7 too of course, which is no small task. I'll just have to remember to do the iexplore back-up next time I need to do this. Can't these bricopack updates be programmed not to mess with IE7? Surely I'm not the only one with this problem?

well the best way to do it is not to include the IE tweak and MEDIA PLAYER tweak when you install the bricopack, this way nothing related to IE / MEDIA PLAYER is changed and you have IE7 and WMP11 working like a charm with the bricopack installed ! nevertheless you solved your problem so ENJOY !
wastedyuthe Profil: New Penguin | Thanks for that info Kraven001- perhaps I might re-install the Bricopack and untick those as you say, so I won't have to worry about this happening again in the future.

I just cannot believe ppl actually keep using that M$ crap like ie7 which is like a rip off of mozilla and sucks royally and lacks functionality, stability, security, and web paging viewing eficiency.
ghostnatyphon Who Dares Wins Profil: Penguin Pro | Now to be fair, Microsoft are trying their best, even if that may mean they resort to "ripping off" mozilla and Apple. IE7 is nothing like mozilla, on the basis it isn't as good, it's slower, it has nowhere near the features, it has no useful plug in system. Some people prefer IE7, if that is the browser they wish to use let them. Just because you hate something and consider it to be a pile of ripped-off crap that costs, doesn't mean everybody else does I find IE useful at times, it is slow, it can be annoying, and it is not my favourite browser, but since mozilla doesn't work on my computer (After installing version 3) and I have yet foiund no solution I find IE very useful at times. Expressing your opinion is all well and good, but play fair You would have been better to say "You use IE7? Personally I prefer... because..." not simply saying "omg how can you use that? It's like, rip-orf." People are entitled to their views, but they're also entitles to their preferences
