new system, xp pro sp2, havent installed any other applications or patches yet except some drivers of audio and video. after i installed VI and restart, the logon screen didn't look right, some part of the logon background picture's white (large part), and the taskbar had a win2k look. so of course i read the faq and knew it might be the UxTheme problem so i downloaded the patcher and patched, and restarted, then after the windows logo it should be the logon screen but i can only see cursor then about 2 seconds later BANG!!!it comes the blue screen, then it automatically restarted, then windows logo again then the cursor again then blue screen again then restarted again then repeat................................

here's the details of the blue screen

stop C000021a Fatal system error

the windows logon system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of Oxc0000005

the system has been shut down

btw the computer is a laptop, thinkpad r60, and it has a recovery function, i had backuped the system before installing vi so i restored the system, then i tried to patch uxtheme first, then installed vi but still bsod. i also tried to do it in safe mode but didn't work either. anyone can help?????????

This is because you have problems in Windows Registry. It is a common cause of Windows crashes and error messages. Registry problems can occur for many reasons, including references left behind after uninstalling, incorrect removal of software, missing or corrupt hardware drivers or orphaned start-up programs. This will significantly increase the Registry size and slow down your computer, because Windows will need more time to load, search, and read data from the Registry. Scan your system for errors with Digeus Registry Cleaner http://www.digeus.com/products/reg [...] eaner.html
