| Frank62 Profil: New Penguin | Last message on previous page: Thanks for replying, Legace. But I already tried removing C:\Windows\BricoPacks, and all other files with "brico" or "inspirat" in their name. And even all folders under C:\Windows\Resources\Themes, except "Luna", because Windows won't let me remove that since that would be in use.
But then something weird happens. When I try to re-install, the installation program says "Another Shell Pack is already installed on your computer." If that isn't strange already, the following is: it asks whether I want to remove the old Shell Pack, but when I click "Yes", it -- or some other program on the computer -- creates (a new) BricoPackLock.lock under C:\Windows. And nothing else happens after that, no matter how long I wait. Clicking the installation .exe file again results in the same cycle. How is that possible, and how do I solve it?

Have you tried doing this in safemode?
1) Download TweakUI from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp [...] rtoys.mspx
(the download link is on the right side)
2) Open TweakUI with an administrator account. Now make sure the TweakUI settings are like this and then press Apply and OK.
AND

Legace, I have, but that has the same result: every time, BricoPackLock.lock is formed as soon as I click the installation file. And what's funny too, is that that .lock file is deleted again automatically as well, if I continue without installing..... It seems to be the same problem as the installation problem with Notepad2 under Windows XP SP2 (http://weblogs.asp.net/rweigelt/ar [...] 13085.aspx), only I cannot find a BricoPackLock.lock file under C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. Or anywhere else, other than sometimes under C:\Windows.
Does that weblog article help you to help us?

I think there must be a registry entry left by the Bricopack somewhere.
Try to open regedit (start -> run -> regedit) and search (CTRL + F) for bricopack, brico, etc. Then delete those entries (if you find any).. ---------------

Only a part in Windows Explorer changes. Close and restart explorer (open a new window of My computer) to see the changes. Btw, Aero Green is supposed to have a little blue ---------------

Change your visual style to the XP default (Luna).
Download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey [...] f6e8ebb871
And unzip the file. Then replace the Inspirat2 in C:\WINDOWS\Resources\Themes folder with the contents of the unzipped file.
Now change back to the Vista Inspirat style, and it should be patched.. ---------------

The Bricopacks are not compatible with Windows Vista. How did you get it to work?

andrea82 Profil: New Penguin | Hello
I have a question for the programmers who have made the vista inspirat pack.
I have on my pc Windows Vista, but i don't like cleartype so i must use the windows classic theme.
Is it possible to have a patch for the bricopack vista inspirat 2 for use it in windows vista? When i have XP i really love this theme, it is fantastic. The colour, the menu and the font are better than vista.
Many thanks. | |

Why don't you use the Aero theme in Vista with cleartype disabled? ---------------

Because in many parts of Vista interface it's impossible to disable the cleartype.

[This is about reinstalling BrickoPacks on XP after SP3.] I cannot tell wether this works or not. I blew up my XP computer by plugging in a universal adapter that in the meantime had its polarity changed without me knowing it. I have a new computer with Vista, but your suggestion does sound logical and workable. Thanks for your help! R., Frank62
